When you feel guilty perhaps for thoughts you might not express or actions you might not apologies for, you might see self torture as a way of redeeming yourself at least in your own eyes.

There are many reasons behind self torture, some of which are;
1. Self improvement
2. A way of restoring integrity
3. Relieving guilt

Despite all these reasons, when self torture becomes your only option, it can lead to Self Harm. There is only a tiny space between SELF HARM and SELF PROTECTION.

Now, Self protection done in genuineness backed up with right morals is better than Self harm done in fear of regretting the rest of your life because self harm can lead to SUICIDAL DEATH and self protection can lead to SELF PRESERVATION of life.
