" *WHO ARE WE? THE ADVENTIST IDENTITY"*

*Introduction*

Happy Sabbath family,
Grace and peace to you. You have asked about the heart of our faith—our practices and our identity. To understand *Seventh-day Adventists* is to understand a people in love with Jesus, waiting expectantly for His return, and committed to living out His Word in every aspect of life.

*1. Our Core Identity: People of the Book & The Promise*
"First and foremost, our identity is rooted in Scripture (Sola Scriptura). We are Christians who believe that the Bible is the ultimate authority.

*The Name:* Our name itself tells our story.
' *Seventh-day* ': Refers to our loyalty to God’s original creation week, honoring the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) as a memorial of creation and a sign of our redemption (Exodus 20:8-11).

' *Adventist* ': Refers to our blessed hope—the literal, visible, and soon return (Second Advent) of Jesus Christ to take His children home (Titus 2:13)."

*2. Our Distinctive Practices (The Lifestyle of Faith)*
"We believe that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), which leads us to a lifestyle that promotes wholeness."

*The Health Message:*
We practice *temperance* . We abstain from harmful substances like alcohol, to***co, and narcotics. Many of us follow a plant-based diet or the biblical dietary laws (Leviticus 11) to keep our minds clear for hearing God’s voice.

*Sabbath Keeping:*
From sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, we disconnect from secular labor and commerce to connect with God, family, and nature. It is a 'Sanctuary in time'—a weekly celebration of God’s grace.

*Christian Modesty:* We advocate for simplicity in dress and stewardship of our resources, focusing on inner character rather than outward display.

*3. Our Prophetic Mission (Why We Are Here)*
"We are not just another denomination; we identify as a prophetic movement with a specific message for the end times, found in Revelation 14:6-12 (The Three Angels' Messages)."

*The Everlasting Gospel:* A call to worship the Creator.

*The Fall of Babylon:* A warning against false systems of worship.

*The Mark of the Beast:* A call to remain faithful to God's commandments (including the observance of Saturday as the Sabbath of the Lord) rather than human traditions.

*4. The Sanctuary & The State of the Dead*
"We hold unique insights into how God deals with sin:

*The Sanctuary:*
We believe Jesus is currently ministering in the Heavenly Sanctuary, interceding for us and conducting the pre-Advent judgment to vindicate God’s character before the universe.

*State of the Dead:*
We find comfort in the biblical truth that death is a sleep. We do not believe in an immortal soul that lives on immediately after death; rather, we await the resurrection morning when Jesus returns (1 Thessalonians 4:16)."

*In summary*

"The Seventh-day Adventist identity is defined by *Rest and Hope* . We rest in Jesus’ finished work on the Sabbath, and we live in the Hope of His soon return. We practice a healthy lifestyle not to earn salvation, but because we believe God wants us to have life 'more abundantly' (John 10:10) while we wait for Him."
