On 4th April 2026, LIBES was honoured to welcome the Republican President, Hakainde Hichilema, who graced the 17th Session of the Association of the Non-Aligned Teachers’ Union of Southern Africa Festival hosted at our institution.
In our official remarks given by Principal – Eng. Gershom Malekani, LIBES expressed profound pride in hosting His Excellency, acknowledging the institution’s direct benefits from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Bursary Initiative. The program has significantly enhanced access, equity, and participation in skills training, with tangible outcomes in entrepreneurship, employment creation, and industry excellence among our graduates.
The institution also highlighted key operational milestones, including improved financial stability, expansion of training staff, and active contribution to national development through community projects such as desk rehabilitation and skills-based service delivery.
Notwithstanding these achievements, LIBES brought to attention critical challenges affecting training delivery, particularly limitations in transport infrastructure for work-based learning and environmental risks associated with wildlife intrusion.
LIBES remains firmly aligned with the national vision of expanding quality skills development and continues to position itself as a strategic driver of technical and vocational excellence.

As an institution, we are deeply saddened to announce the loss of two of our students, Mazuba Sikwalulwa, a second-year student who was pursuing a Diploma in ICT with Mathematics, and Kingsley Habaamba, a second-year student who was pursuing a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
Their untimely passing is a great loss to the LIBES family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and fellow students during this difficult time.
