GOVT CONSIDER REVIEW OF SCHOOL CALENDAR
Minister of General Education David Mabumba says his ministry is currently carrying out consultations on the review of the school calendar to ensure that the teacher pupil contact is increased.
Mr. Mabumba says various stakeholders such as the unions, parents and Members of Parliaments will be involved in the review of the school calendar.
He says among the variable that might be considered during the consultations process is the need to introduce school holiday during winter and the rain season.
Mr. Mabumba said this when he responded to Milenge Member of Parliament Mwansa Mbulakulima who wanted to find out whether Government has any plans to introduce school holidays during the cold season.
He said he has observed that children in his constituency resort to staying away from school in the cold season because they do not have proper clothing.
The Minister noted that Zambia is the only country that has many school holidays in the SADC region leading to less time between the pupils and the teacher.

CHADIZA POLICE ARREST A TEACHER FOR DEFILING HIS PUPIL.

Thursday, 22nd November, 2018.

Police in Chadiza district have arrested a 28-year-old teacher of Mwangazi Primary School for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old minor, a grade 7 pupil at the school in a toilet.

And Police are keeping a ‘Chitenge’ material which is stained with dry human semen that was retrieved at the scene of the incident.

Eastern province Commissioner of Police, Luckson Sakala confirmed the development to Feel Free news on Tuesday and has identified the suspect as Lynn Phiri.

Mr. Sakala says the incident happened on 17th November, 2018 around 19:00 and was reported by Francis Zulu who is the elder brother to victim on 20th November, 2018.

He says brief facts into the matter are that on the material day, Mr. Zulu left for Vubwi and that about 19:00 hours, the suspect went to his house and knocked on the window.

He says the victim exited the house through the very window and later proceeded to the toilet where the suspect had carnal knowledge of her.

The Eastern police Chief adds that as the whole incident was happing, a neighbour was observing and later informed the sister in-law to the victim.

He says upon being asked, the victim narrated how the incident happened, adding that a ‘chitenge’ material which is believed to have been spread on the floor was recovered.

Mr. Sakala says the suspect is detained in custody and will appear in court soon.

When asked for a comment by Radio Maria this morning, Provincial Education Officer for Eastern Province Dr Allan Ling'ambe said he had not received any report from Chadiza District Education Board Secretary but promised to take appropriate action once the report reaches his office.

TEACHER UNION OPERATIONS MUST BE SUSPENDED, NUPPEZ IS A GIRL WHO ATTRACTS BOYS TO HELP HER SHOUT "WE SHALL NEVER BE SILENT."

By Celine Mukuka

When everyone thought NUPPEZ was a saviour then boom! Sven Vindbroek, Chipolopolo coach.

I am disappointed with the way unions are behaving because their behaviour is tantamount to criminality. Criminals do not care about others all they care about is themselves. Unions do not care about others all they care is about their pockets.

Unions make a lot of money in a month and this is why top officials are on payroll using money from teachers. Junior officials are poorly funded and it is sad that they're used to fight battles for others; the case of NUPPEZ.

Big teams like ZNUT have forgotten their role and this has led to everyone to lose focus and it is not known when these unions shall come back to their senses. Unions are sweet talkers and most teachers are duped into believing them. Most teachers join unions out of excitement when unionists follow them in schools without realizing that they're after their payslips. Unions will convince teachers with only one sentence, "If you commit a crime unions will defend you." What if you don't commit any crime? This is a sentence which unions use to win members and they have achieved that. Some teachers who don't know whether they will commit a crime sign forms so that they're represented when they commit one. This doesn't work. Get it from me.

If we rate the performance of all the unions, all of them will come out last except BETUZ and SESTUZ. The unions which are a bit active and help teachers in one way or the other are BETUZ and SESTUZ the rest belongs to the dustbin. I don't understand why ZNUT has lost focus or maybe the top leadership should be substituted so that those on the bench should play now.

NUPPEZ and PROTUZ are sisters from the same mother but different fathers. The mother who gave birth to PROTUZ was not married and decided to change a man, got pregnant and gave birth to NUPPEZ. So NUPPEZ and PROTUZ have a common DNA which can be seen through their behaviour.

PROTUZ likes complaining when she fails and blames everything on her younger sister NUPPEZ while NUPPEZ is one child who makes noise in class but gets zero all the time. NUPPEZ is one girl who hires boys to defend her when her fellow girls are on her neck. She is a smart girl who manages to convince boys to fall in love with her so that they give her money. When they call her pr******te she shouts, "we shall never be silent. These two sisters have no clear roadmap but only exist for "more money in the pocket."

What I am trying to say is that some Union operations must be suspended indefinitely and monthly deductions should be stopped immediately. Unions are only chewing our money free of charge and it's sad that some few teachers have started to behave like political cadres who when given a little cash resort to defend anything whether good or bad. I feel NUPPEZ should be deregistered firstly because it lied to everyone that it would be a Union from Paradise. I don't know which Paradise they used to talk about. After getting their share, they're now silent but when one wakes them up they would still shout 'we shall never be silent' to fool people that they're working yet their works are only in their imagination.

Salary negotiations are going on and NUPPEZ Public Relations is circulating a memo where she is saying unions will not update teachers on how far they've gone because such a conduct is against the law. Why did they use to update us before? They have just fail. We know BETUZ and SESTUZ are trying their best like always but they're being obstructed by small unions which want to be seen as giants when not. Although unions are the same, BETUZ and SESTUZ should be applauded and if possible they should be left to negotiate on behalf of teachers. NUPPEZ, ZNUT and PROTUZ must return home to save taxpayers' money which is being abused through allowances.

MINISTRY OF GENERAL EDUCATION PERMANENT SECRETARY'S SUSPENSION WELCOME, TSC AND TCZ OFFICIALS MUST GO.

By Anonymous

The suspension of Ministry of General Education Permanent Secretary Henry Tukombe is very much welcome. I am happy with this development because the man only knew how to issue threats on teachers. Each time he spoke, all he could say was to threaten teachers with dismissals.

I always wondered why he could issue threats on all the forums he attended. I wondered if teachers have failed to read the Conditions of Service for Teaching Profession and the Code of Ethics for public workers. I still wonder why teachers are everyday reminded of this, I don't know what they take us for.

I am happy that the big man is gone and I pray he never comes near the teaching service.

Another man whom I will celebrate his departure is Teaching Service Commission Chairperson Stanley Mhango. Mr Mhango has threatened teachers in all the angles as if he isn't a teacher himself. I am sure God will answer my prayers so that this man leaves that posts sooner than later. Maybe some of us will breath some fresh air. As teachers we know what to do and when. When we commit an offence, we have no excuses. Mr Mhango reached to an extent of saying teachers can't read and write, this is a clear indication that he doesn't value us and thinks teachers can't do anything to him.

Mr Mhango has never motivated teachers all he knows is to issue threats. This man can even ban teachers from using social media and prosecute those he thinks are not using it the way he wants. I will celebrate the day he will leave the teaching service and I pray he gets deployed to the Department of Forestry so that he issues threats to the trees.

At Teaching Council of Zambia there are others who have taken their positions personal. They'll come and go, they'll leave the teachers they're busy threatening. We are just waiting for your departure so that we celebrate the way we have celebrated Mr Tukombe's suspension.

Continue saying whatever you want on teachers. We are here till we retire.

Just follow what they will speak on Teachers' Day. You'll only hear threats.

Mr Tukombe is now no more and I don't know who he will be threatening now. We will celebrate Stanley Mhango's departure the same way Zambians celebrated when Wynter Kabimba was fired.

ZNUT TO BOYCOTT TEACHERS' DAY CELEBRATION.

-And this is how ZNUT sympathizers will march on teachers day.

ZNUT spokesperson Joe Kasaka has said that his Union will not participate in this year's teachers day celebration until government attends to all the needs of teachers.

Speaking in Lusaka this morning, Mr Kasaka said his Union has engaged government on several issues such upgrade, confirmation, salary increase and so on and said government has turned a deaf ear.

Mr Kasaka said due to this, ZNUT will boycott this year's teachers day and said this is the reason his Union did not distribute regalia to their members.

ZNUT has since directed its members to boycott this year's teachers day celebration until government addresses all their concerns.
