POETRY COMPETITION

Eligibility: All young Zambian poets of ages between 12 and 19.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Poem Length: Between 10 and 25 lines

Who writes: Poems to be written by the young themselves. Use of AI in generating poetry is also not allowed.

Subject: Absolutely anything, just ensure to use poetic elements in your work.

Language: All poems to be written in English.

Number of submissions: one (1) per contestant.

Deadline: Midnight, Friday, 23rd August, 2024.

HOW TO ENTER

Email your poem, picture, short bio (including date of birth) of about 150 words, and contact number to [email protected]

Use the subject line: Young Poets’ Competition: [Title of Poem]

All poems will be published on the Kalulu Kreativez Centre for the Arts and Culture page between 23 August and 30 August 2024.

JUDGING PROCESS

Judging will be done in two ways; public voting (on the page. The poems with the most likes score more points in the public voting segment) and judging based on art, by poetry professionals. Each one carries 50%.

The shortlist will be announced on 3 September 2024 and the winners on 6 September 2024.

PRIZES
1st prize: K500

2nd prize: K300

3rd prize: K200

All shortlisted poets will be invited to a poetry writeshop with established poets who are working on a poetry anthology to be published by the end of this year.
