MUMEDSA RESEARCH DEPARTMENT UPDATE 25.05.2026

When we assumed office, one of the promises we made to the student populace was that we would lead with excellence, purpose, and action.

This afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, we are pleased to let you know that the work has officially begun.

Earlier today, the MUMEDSA Research Department held productive engagement with Southern Region Vice President of the Residents Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ), concerning possible collaboration opportunities between RDAZ and the MUMEDSA Research Department.

The discussions are aimed at creating opportunities for medical students in areas such as research mentorship, workshops, collaborations, and professional development.

As your Medical Research Coordinator, my commitment remains clear: to build a strong research culture and create meaningful opportunities that will benefit every medical student.

This is only the beginning.

πŸ’«πŸŒŸMESSAGE OF GRATITUDE FROM OUR FORMER VICE PRESIDENT, Mr Kangwa Junior Mumbi. ✨️

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity I was given to serve as Association Vice President during the 2024/25 academic yearl. It’s been an honor to walk with you and serve in this role.

In that season, I’ve learnt a lot about what leadership really means. Leadership taught me to listen before I speak, to make decisions under pressure, to carry responsibility with integrity, to communicate clearly, and to work with people from different backgrounds toward one goal. Most of all, it taught me humility and the value of putting the team before myself.

Remember, leadership is not defined by position. It’s defined by how much impact you have on the people around you. So as I cheer from the sideline, I’m ready to still create an impact in order to build a stronger MUMEDSA.

To the new leaders who were sworn in ...congratulations and well done for stepping up. My encouragement to you is this: lead with a heart of love for the people. When you lead from a place of genuine care, people feel seen, and that’s when real progress happens. Serve faithfully, stay teachable, and remember that leadership is stewardship, not status.

β€œDo nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” – Philippians 2:3

Thank you again, MUMEDSA, for trusting me. I’m cheering you on.

Yours,
Retirement MUMEDSA General,
Kangwa Jr.

πŸ’«πŸŒ™MUMEDSA is proud to inform that one of our very own, Juliet Katongo, has been awarded the prestigious Zambia National Education Coalition Research Grant following her successful application.

Notably, this opportunity is awarded to only one student per province, and she has represented Southern Province and the Mulungushi University Medical Students Association at large with excellence. She has since travelled to take part in the research engagement sessions under this program.

This achievement reflects the standard of excellence we continue to uphold as an association. Our vision remains clear to encourage, support, and create meaningful platforms for academic growth, research, and exposure.

We wish her continued success as she carries the MUMEDSA flag forward with distinction.

Highlights from her journey will be shared in due time.
