MUKUSU held a meeting on Thursday with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, where Mr. Nedson Bwalya presented key challenges affecting the student body at Mukuba University.
Mr. Nedson Bwalya Mukusu president raised the poor state of the access road from the main junction to campus. This has been a persistent problem since 2021, and it remains unacceptable for an institution of Mukubaās size to operate without a proper road.
He also reminded the Permanent Secretary of the bus pledged to Mukuba University by His Excellency the Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, in 2023 during the commissioning of boreholes at Copperbelt University. Follow-up is ongoing to ensure the pledge is fulfilled.
During the meeting, Mr. Bwalya acknowledged and thanked His Excellency the President and his government for the continued support to Mukuba University. This includes the increased number of students benefiting from student loans, the construction of lecture rooms and hostels, the connection to Chimwemwe Level 2 Hospital for 24/7 power supply, and other infrastructural developments.
The Permanent Secretary has undertaken to escalate these matters to the Office of the President for consideration. We will communicate any feedback to the student body once it is received.
