YOUR CAREER IS NOT YOUR ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME.
We are often taught to choose a career, get a job, earn a salary, and build our lives around that salary.
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with building a career.
But there’s something we should also learn: a BUSINESS MINDSET.
You can be a teacher.
You can be a nurse.
You can be an engineer.
You can be a lawyer.
You can be an accountant.
You can be a designer.
You can be a student.
Whatever career you choose, learn how to think beyond your salary.
A business mindset teaches you to look around and ask:
“What problem can I solve?”
“What value can I create?”
“What skill can I turn into an income stream?”
“What can I build that doesn't depend entirely on my monthly paycheck?”
Your side hustle doesn't have to start big.
It could begin with a skill you already have.
Photography.
Graphic design.
Baking.
Tutoring.
Writing.
Farming.
Fashion.
Digital services.
Selling products.
Consulting.
The goal isn't simply to have a side hustle.
The goal is to develop the mindset of a creator, a problem-solver, and a value builder.
Because your career can give you an income…
but your mindset can help you create opportunities.
So as you prepare for your career, don't only ask:
“What job will I get?”
Also ask:
“What can I build?”

YOU DON'T NEED A BUSINESS IDEA.
YOU NEED TO SEE A PROBLEM.

A lot of people say:
“I want to start a business, but I don't know what business to start.”
But here's the uncomfortable truth:
Business isn't always about finding something nobody has done before.
Sometimes, it's about looking at something people complain about every day and asking:
“How can I solve this better?”
Someone complains about expensive food.
Someone complains about transport.
Someone complains about poor customer service.
Someone complains about finding information.
Someone complains about not having enough time.
And while one person is complaining...
Another person is building a business.
💭 The question is not:
“What business can I start?”
The better question is:
👉 “What problem can I solve for people?”
Because money doesn't usually follow ideas.
Money follows value.
So before you rush to copy someone's business, look around you.
What problem keeps appearing around you?
Maybe your next business isn't hiding in another country.
Maybe it's sitting inside a problem you see every single day.

“What if you’re not lost… you’re just following the wrong map?”
A young person once said:
“I honestly don’t know what I want to do with my life.”
But when we talked, I realized something.
They knew what they didn’t want.
They knew what their friends were doing.
They knew what their parents expected.
They even knew what career sounded impressive.
What they didn’t know was themselves.
And that’s where the problem begins.
Sometimes, we spend so much time asking:
“Which career will make me successful?”
That we forget to ask:
“What kind of person am I becoming?”
Your career isn't just about getting a job.
It’s about discovering your strengths, understanding your interests, developing yourself, making informed choices—and building a future that actually makes sense for you.
You don't need to have your entire life figured out today.
But you do need to start asking better questions.
What am I good at?
What do I enjoy?
What problems do I care about solving?
What kind of life do I want to build?
Because sometimes, finding your career starts with something deeper:

“I Don't Know What I Want To Become.”
A few days ago, I had a conversation with a young person who said something that really stuck with me:
“Bro, I honestly don't know what I want to do with my life.”
And I asked, “Why do you feel like you need to know everything right now?”
He paused.
Then he said, “Because everyone around me seems to have figured it out.”
That hit differently.
Maybe you've felt the same way.
You look at your friends and one wants to be a doctor.
Another wants to be an engineer.
Someone else is already talking about business.
Another person seems to have their entire five-year plan figured out.
And you're just there thinking:
“What about me?” 😕
Here's something I wish more young people were told:
You don't have to have your whole life figured out today.
Your career journey isn't a race where everyone starts at the same place and reaches the finish line at the same time.
Sometimes, you discover what you want by trying things.
Sometimes, you discover what you don't want first.
Sometimes, you need someone to ask you the right questions before you can even see what you're capable of.
And sometimes...
you simply need direction.
Because being unsure about your future doesn't mean you're failing.
It means you're still discovering yourself.
So instead of asking:
“What am I going to become for the rest of my life?”
Start with:
“What direction should I explore next?”
That's where the journey begins.
And that's exactly why CRN Career Talks exists.

You don't have to have your whole life figured out at 18, 20, or even 25.
Sometimes, the pressure to “know what you want to become” can be overwhelming.
The truth is, careers are not always straight lines. You may discover a new passion, change your course, learn from failure, or realize that the career you once wanted isn't right for you.
What matters is that you keep learning, exploring, and moving forward.
Don't compare your journey to someone else's timeline.
Your direction may take time to become clear. And that's okay. 💙
