Bridging Chemistry and Marketing! πŸ§ͺ✨

The Copperbelt University Chemical Society (CUCS) recently had the privilege of engaging in an insightful dialogue with the Zambia Institute of Marketing-CBU chapter, where we explored how chemistry and marketing work hand in hand to transform innovative ideas into successful products.

Using a chemist-developed perfume as a case study, we discussed the journey from formulation in the laboratory to building a brand, developing a business strategy, and connecting with consumers. The session highlighted that chemistry is not only about scientific discoveryβ€”it also creates opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation.

A heartfelt thank you to the Zambia Institute of Marketing – CBU Chapter for the engaging discussions and valuable perspectives. We look forward to more collaborations that inspire students to think beyond the laboratory and embrace the business side of science.

Chemistry creates. Marketing connects. Together, they build brands. πŸ’™πŸ’›

============================================================

From the early days of the 2022–2023 academic year, Owen officially joined the then Chemistry Society as a Disciplinary Committee Member, where he helped foster discipline and unity under the leadership of Madam Mirriam Kamanga and Mr. Mutambo Emanuel.

In 2023–2024, he rose to serve as Academic Secretary, diligently carrying out all academic duties of the society under Mr. Taza Mwanza’s leadership.

By 2024, his influence extended beyond chemistry as he joined MASA (Mathematics and Sciences Association), serving as Academic Secretary in the 2024–2025 academic year under Mr. Kumbilanji Kalenge.

Yet his journey did not stop there. In 2025–2026, Owen returned to the Chemical Society, this time as President, leading with vision and determination to elevate the society. He is also a member of the COPPERBELT University student representative council (SRC) representating Chemical Society.

Beyond society leadership, Owen is one of the longest-serving class representatives in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, earning the title β€œPioneer” as he continues to pioneer his program, Industrial Chemistry.
