📉 Zamtel's 17-Year Struggle: A Lesson in Financial Turnarounds 📈
Did you know? 💡
Zamtel Zambia’s state-owned telecom company hadn't made a profit since 2006. That’s 17 years of losses, mismanagement, and missed targets.
Between 2021 and 2023 alone, Zamtel recorded losses of:
📉 K391.9 million in 2021
📉 K430.3 million in 2022
📉 K599.5 million in 2023
That’s over K1.4 billion in 3 years.
They also failed to grow their market share as planned.
🎯 Target: 34% in 2023
📊 Actual: Just 20.5%
But here’s the turning point...
In 2024, Zamtel reported its first profit in 17 years as part of a bold recovery plan. 🔄 This includes: ✅ Cutting unnecessary costs
✅ Restructuring debt
✅ Expanding into underserved areas
✅ Improving service quality
💬 WealthWise Takeaway:
Whether it’s a business, your personal finances, or public enterprises poor money management catches up eventually. But with the right strategy, discipline, and leadership, a financial turnaround is possible.
🌱 WealthWise Lesson
Zamtel’s prolonged loss-making cycle since 2006 highlights the importance of consistent financial stewardship, responsible governance, and strategic oversight. Even large, state-backed organizations can falter without fiscal discipline and sound leadership.
📌 Lesson: Budget wisely. Monitor performance. Adjust early. Be accountable.
👊 Let Zamtel’s story remind us: Financial literacy and strategic thinking aren’t optional they’re essential.

🔥 ENTREPRENEURSHIP ISN’T FOR THE WEAK.
It’s not just about starting a business.
It’s about becoming a problem solver, risk taker, and vision carrier when no one claps for you, and the bills don’t care about your dreams.
💡Here’s the truth:
Entrepreneurship is sacrifice before success.
It’s late nights, empty pockets, and silent wins.
It’s pushing when your friends are partying, because you see something greater ahead.
But when it clicks?
It changes your life.
And not just yours but your family’s, your community’s, and your country’s.
Zambia doesn’t need more employees.
Zambia needs more builders.
Be a builder. Be an entrepreneur.
👊🏽 Start small. Think big. Act now.

🚨 Gold is everywhere. But is wealth?
Right now, young Zambians are striking gold literally. Villages have turned into mining hubs. Fortunes are being made overnight. 💰
But here’s the catch:
✨ Luxury cars.
✨ Designer clothes.
✨ Nightlife.
And in a few months? For some, maybe… nothing to show for it.
At WealthWise Academy , we’re not here to kill the excitement. We’re here to ask the real questions:
💬 How do we turn a gold rush into generational wealth?
💬 Can sudden money build a future or only fund a lifestyle?
💬 What does the rising Kwacha really mean for you?
We dive deep into all this in our guest feature today at 17:00hrs.
📖 You don’t want to miss this one.
Pleiades TV
The country is currently in a gold rush. Young people across the country are chasing the valuable metal in deep places of various districts.
We have received reports of youths amassing a huge fortune after selling the metal to small-scale miners who are buying it between K2,300 and K2,500 per gram.
These youths, however, seem to be excited and mainly spend huge sums of money on Luxurious cars and a flashy lifestyle. One would expect the newly found gold in various places to blur the lines of poverty in the country. But is it?
Meanwhile, the performance of the Kwacha has been relatively good for the past month, making it the 2nd best performing currency in Africa.
Is it by chance that the local currency is doing fine?
Is it because of the looming 2026 general elections?
Does it have anything to do with Gold?
Those asks need answers. Read our guest article from WealthWise Academy today at 17:00hrs.
