Three critical pieces of advice for students currently sitting for the 2025 GCE exams (Grade 9 and 12)
1. Read the Instructions Carefully – Don’t Rush
Many students lose marks not because they don’t know the content, but because they misread the question or skip instructions. Take time to understand what each question is asking. Highlight keywords like "explain," "compare," "describe," or "give reasons." If you're unsure, ask the invigilator before starting the exam.
2. Manage Your Time Wisely – Know Your Paper Structure
Every paper is timed for a reason. If a question is worth 10 marks, don’t spend 30 minutes on it while leaving 20-mark questions untouched. Plan your answers, pace yourself, and leave time at the end to review your work. You are not just being tested on what you know, but also on how well you organize your time under pressure.
3. Answer with Clarity – Quality Over Quantity
Markers are trained to reward clear, relevant, and well-structured answers. Avoid unnecessary repetition or writing off-topic. If a question asks for three points, give three strong, focused points with brief explanations or examples—not a paragraph of scattered thoughts. Good handwriting and neat presentation also make a positive impression and reduce errors in marking.
Your GCE exam is not just a test of memory, but a test of discipline, clarity, and exam strategy. Stay calm, be confident in what you've learned, and give each question the attention it deserves.
Good luck to all candidates—you've got this! 💪📚✅
