UNZAEHSA SEMINAR 2026
Theme: Activating Career Capacity
The Zambia Environmental Health Student Association (ZAEHSA), together with UNZAEHSA, successfully hosted an insightful seminar at the University of Zambia, School of Public Health Hall on Friday, 9th May 2026.
The seminar brought together experienced professionals and student leaders who shared valuable knowledge on career growth, leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development within the Environmental Health profession.
Key Lessons Learned from the Seminar:
Dr. Haakonde
Emphasized that environmental health is a broad and flexible profession with opportunities in areas such as solid waste management, meat inspection, and environmental protection. He encouraged students to use their skills creatively and turn them into income-generating opportunities.
Mr. Henry Hillary Hobe
shared his inspiring career journey from working as an Environmental Health Technologist in the Ministry of Health to NGO and consultancy work. He highlighted the importance of time management, maintaining a positive attitude, and building success through daily productive habits.
Mr. Joshua Jere, Former UNZEHSA President.
Encouraged students to view ZAEHSA as a “career incubator” where leadership and participation can open doors to scholarships, mentorships, and employment opportunities. He advised students to begin building professional networks early through platforms like LinkedIn and to balance academics while preparing for life after school.
Mr. Freddy Wisdom from AIM-Higher Youth Cooperative Zambia.
Introduced youth cooperatives as an alternative path to employment and empowerment. He highlighted opportunities in leadership training, skills development, entrepreneurship, and climate change action.
🙌 The seminar reminded us that success is not only about academic excellence but also about leadership, attitude, networking, innovation, and preparing ourselves for the real world.
We sincerely thank all the guest speakers, students, lecturers, and organizers who made the seminar a success. Together, we continue building future environmental health professionals ready to create impact in society.
