In Zambia, working in engineering without EIZ registration isn't just a personal choice—it’s actually a legal risk. If someone asks why they should bother registering when they *just work

If you work for five years but aren't registered with the EIZ those five years technically don't count toward your professional progression. When you eventually want to upgrade to *Professional Engineer* status, the EIZ may not recognize the "unlicensed" years, effectively resetting your career clock.
