WHO IS THIS?

She woke up feeling dizzy and sick. At first she thought it was the usual hangovers she always experiences after a heavy ‘drink’. She always kept a stock of pain killer to relieve herself of pain. “This feeling again, when am I ever going to become a professional drinker?”, she whispered to herself as she reached for a packet of paracetamol.

A distant friend was helpful in as far as the dosage of the drugs was concerned. After getting the pills, Prisca headed for the kitchen. She remembered getting the pills and heading to the kitchen but how she found herself in hospital, she could not remember. She opened her eyes in awe and looked, behold, she was in Hospital. Her mother narrated to her that she found her lying unconscious on a floor in the kitchen.

For 21 days she was admitted at Ndola Central hospital but each day that passed seemed to feed on her flesh. The hopes of her recovering become slim every day despite the Doctors relentless efforts to restore her health back to normal. Bana Chilufya wished there was a way she could help her daughter carry the excruciating pain but No the pain was only for her daughter, Prisca.

A beautiful rare breed, blessed with melanin and the ‘body curves’ but because of that short illness, all her attractive looks become a once upon a time. Her mother saw her daughter reduced to almost a skeleton, the anguish is now reminding her of her late husband who died shortly after a short illness. ‘Lord Why?” become the dominating punctuation mark in her daily supplication to her God.

They say people know when they are about to die so when that moment arrived for Prisca, in sign language, she requested for a pen and paper. These were made available for her. after struggling to sit upright on that hospital bed, she began writing: mum I am sorry, I am here because 7 months ago I committed abortion. Few weeks after I committed abortion, I started experiencing pain in my lower abdomen and I went to a private clinic where I was examined and informed that I was ‘rotting’ inside my womanhood. I was advised to visit the hospital but I didn’t instead I……...

She could not finish writing but at least she had already said key events that led to her ‘short’ illness and subsequent death.
Death took her on a trip to hell. Barely did she know that her deeds whilst alive were a direct application to the hades. Prisca felt conscious and alive again. She saw people screaming as they burn in eternal fire that rained heavily on them. She was going to join those when she saw a girl about her age. “who is this beautiful girl that looks like me?”

The girl looked like her. She thought maybe her mother didn’t just tell her that she had a twin sister. The ‘twin’ sister looked at her as if telling Prisca to have a good look at her. It was later made known to Prisca that, the girl she supposed was her twin sister was actually the baby she aborted.
The writer asks: given an opportunity to see the future of your unborn baby, would you still abort it in order to shield yourself from the shame and stigmatization that comes with unplanned pregnancies?

Weak as we are, we should struggle and cry to God grant us the power to overcome sin.
OTHERWISE ON OUR OWN, WE ARE ‘THAT’ WEAKLING THAT YOU ARE.

THE ZAMBIAN ECONOMY IS NOT BAD.

If the economy of the country can reach a point where its highest
banknote(k100) cannot afford someone an ability to buy a reasonable
volume of staple food, then that country’s economy is no longer bad but
worse, headed worst.

The state of Zambian economy was not orchestrated by Covid-19,
rather, it was compounded by the same. You will bare me witness that
the recent pre-covid-19 period was already threatening. It is illogical to
argue that the viral disease is the brain behind the ‘sick and helpless’
economy.

Our economy is worse headed worst. the closest metaphor I can use is:
our economy is in intensive care unit(ICU), without immediate, critical
and serous attention it will die. It is half dead.

Every Zambian is feeling the impact of a failing economy: young and
adults. What sector of life has not been affected? which commodity is
still affordable? Good life in Zambia is now a fiction story!

What went wrong? Every Zambian takes a portion of the blame.
Zambians voted people that did little to nothing despite their handsome
campaign promises. Another portion of eligible Zambian voters
didn’t(don’t) exercise their right to vote. The people we voted into
power had their own secret ambitions, from which we have not
benefited.

“Development is not an event but a process” end of quote. These
beautiful words were uttered by our able general education permanent
secretary Mr. JOBBICKS KALUMBA.I second his sentiments and I
would love to make an appeal to every youth out there to be part of the
‘process’.

Whereas it might be wrong to compare our ‘ever’ developing nation to
European countries, we still have a lot to learn from them. It won’t takea foreigner to better our country but instead it will and should take us the
citizens. But how can we be part of the change when we are sidelined?

I REPEAT our economy is not bad rather it is worse headed worst and I
share the knowledge with you that it won’t take a non-Zambian to
develop our country but just you and me.

I salute the leaders who have showcased their will to develop Zambia
the likes of the general education permanent secretary Dr. jobbicks
Kalumba and many others. we salute your effort.

HOW MUCH DID WE LOSE?

A man was sent to jail for the crimes he did not commit because when
the matter came before a judge, he represented himself in court as he
could not afford a lawyer.

The year 1980 was a year when someone was, for the first time,
diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Doctors and medical scientists rushed to the
laboratory with the aim to find the cure. Since that time large economies
have put their monies together to fund the research in the ‘vaccine’.

They went carrying my sick mother to the hospital. I witnessed them
coming back in the same taxi but this time, only my aunt and two of my
neighbors come out of the car. I saw them start crying. Before long, they
started bringing chairs out of the house so that mourners should sit on
them.

So careless has man become that he has polluted the earth to the point
that inhabitants are experiencing rainy seasons ‘without’ the rains. I
doubt if Adam and eve can recognize this planet earth if they came back
because it has transformed wholly into a strange one.

Men are raising their hands not in church to answer or ask a question at a
church bible study, but instead they are raising their hands to beat up
their wives. Divorcing their wives because they still want to mingle with
‘slay queens’

Our planet Earth has become a home of confusion. Where 666 is a
vaccine and a vaccine denotes the inception of biblical 666. A planet
where a more improved generation of network(5G) is the cause of a viral
Disease(COVID-19).

I open the bible, read about the garden of Eden in its perfection. I realize
we lost a home where fairness & ORDER prevails, where love is the
breath of life, where sickness is not known, where death is un heard of.

Until we learn to search the holy writings, we are headed for a more
chaotic time.
We lost so much, indeed we lost.

LIFE ON YOU

Life is how you make it but how do you make it when you don’t know
how?

The times I refused to accompany mum to the farm, didn’t sweep the
house or clean dishes were all made known to my father. But to my
surprise Mr. Banda would sit me down and tell me “nizako uzavutika”
you will suffer.

Now that am a grown up, I can testify to what Mr. Banda was telling me.

The life I have come to know does not accommodate the lazy, the faint
hearted nor the crooked. Man must survive!

Lucky Dube once said ‘good things come to those who go out and make
them happen’ end of quote. I agree with him because you certainly have
to ‘take action’ if you are going to get what you want in this life.

People will look down on you, mock you, underestimate you, laugh at
your hustle but remember how hard life will go on you if you don’t do
whatever it is that you do!

Responsibilities are what makes you a gentle man or a lady.

today you can be at a wedding the next at a funeral.
others have watched their mothers die
leaving them with no other shoulder to lean on.

but you decided to continue living.

non of your plans manifested,
your grades at school didn't improve either,
you will have to repeat/rewrite,
because you have to keep moving.

you still decided to stay focused.

how courageous you have been,
how merciful the lord has been to you,
honor and adoration unto him.

continue to be courageous because that is what you need to stay alive!
