📘 Understanding Urbanization and Its Impact on Our Communities.
Urbanization is the movement of people from rural areas to towns and cities in search of better opportunities such as jobs, education, and improved living standards.
In countries like Zambia, urban growth is happening rapidly. While urbanization brings development, it also comes with challenges.
✅ Positive Impacts:
1. Improved infrastructure (roads, schools, hospitals)
2. More business and employment opportunities
3. Better access to social services
⚠️ Negative Impacts:
1. Poor waste management
2. Increased unemployment
3. Informal settlements
4. Pressure on water and sanitation systems
If urban growth is not well planned, it can lead to environmental degradation and health problems.
📌 Lesson: Development must go hand in hand with proper planning, environmental protection, and community participation.
