Magnesium sulfate loads dose 14grams which as administered as follows:
4 grams intravenous of 20%MgSo4. Which is 8m/s of magnesium sulfate plus 12m/s of water for injection making it 20m/s all together and should be given for about 10to 15minutes slowly.
10grams intramuscular which 50%of Mgso4 divided to each buttock as 5grams which is 10m/s of Mgso4 given with 1m/s of of 2%lignocaine due to its sensitivity..
There after 4hours you check the following things before starting the maintainance dose :
Respiration should be above 16b/m
Urine output should be above 30m/s per hour
Kneel reflex should be present.
Then maintenance dose can be started which is 5grams which is 10m/s of Mgso4 given with 1m/s of 2%Lignocaine . Changing buttoks every after 4hours and total dose is 6doses.
Incase of any reaction calcium gluconate which is 10m/s can be used as an antidote.
