Pictorial Update Report: Training Session Ahead of ZUSA Competition
The athletes representing Chalimbana University today held an intensive training session as part of their final preparations for tomorrow’s ZUSA games. The session was characterized by determination, teamwork, discipline, and high levels of commitment from both the players and the technical team.
The training focused on improving fitness levels, sharpening tactical approaches, and strengthening coordination among team members in readiness for the competition. Coaches guided the athletes through various drills and exercises aimed at enhancing performance and building confidence ahead of the games.

The Vice Chancellor of Chalimbana University, Professor William Phiri Abwino, is one of Zambia’s distinguished scholars in the fields of Applied Statistics, ICT Education, and Educational Modeling Methods.
Prof. William Phiri holds an earned Doctorate in Applied Statistics using ICT Educational Modeling Methods and currently serves as the Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Chalimbana University. Prior to this appointment, he served diligently as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Research, Postgraduate Studies, Consultancy, and Innovation, contributing immensely to academic development and institutional growth.
Apart from lecturing undergraduate students in ICTs with Education and postgraduate students in Advanced Research Methods at Chalimbana University, Prof. Phiri also lectured for more than five years on a part-time basis at the University of Zambia School of Education before later joining Chalimbana University on a full-time basis.
Since 2014, he has continued contributing to higher education through teaching postgraduate students in Applied Statistics and Management Information Systems (MIS) at the University of Zambia Institute of Distance Education (IDE). His passion for research and academic excellence has also seen him serve as Deputy Chief Editor of the CHAU Multidisciplinary Journal of Research, while also sitting on several local and international journal technical committees.
Prof. Phiri’s educational journey and professional experience reflect remarkable dedication and lifelong learning. He began his teaching career at Parklands Secondary School in Kitwe before being transferred to Lukona Secondary School in Western Province. He later taught Additional Mathematics and Computer Studies at St. Paul’s Secondary School in Kabwe, Central Province, before returning to UNZA to pursue postgraduate studies.
Academically, Prof. William Phiri possesses an exceptional list of qualifications, including:
• PhD in Education (ICTs Education and Applied Statistics)
• Master of Education
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Master of Science in Management Information Systems
• Master of Information and Communication Technology with Education
• Bachelor of Education (Mathematics and Special Education)
