High-Five for Clean Hands!

It’s World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5th, and we’re celebrating the power of clean hands in preventing illness and saving lives!

Did you know:
• 80% of infectious diseases spread through touch
• Handwashing can cut diarrheal disease risk by up to 47%
• Germs can live on your hands for hours
• And we touch our faces 16–23 times per hour!

That’s why hand hygiene matters — at home, at work, and especially in healthcare!

YOU CAN HELP SAVE A LIFE – LEARN CPR TODAY!

In a situation where someone collapses and is not breathing, every second is critical. Here’s a step-by-step guide on what to do:

STEP 1:
Ensure the scene is safe to protect both yourself and the victim.

STEP 2:
Check if the individual is awake and breathing normally. Tap and shout to gain their attention. If there is no response and they are either not breathing or only gasping, proceed to the next step.

STEP 3:
Immediately call 112 to request an ambulance, or ask someone nearby to contact emergency services.

Initiate CPR Immediately:
Perform 30 chest compressions:
* Push hard and fast in the center of the chest at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.

Administer 2 rescue breaths:
* Tilt the head back, lift the chin, pinch the nose, and breathe into the person's mouth.

Continue the cycle of 30 compressions and 2 breaths
(maintaining a 30:2 ratio) without interruption.

If an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is available:
Turn it on.
Follow the voice prompts provided by the device.

Continue CPR until professional help arrives or the individual begins to breathe.
