VERULAM SECONDARY EARNS RECOGNITION AS LEADING UNIVERSITY FEEDER SCHOOL

Verulam Secondary School has been recognised as one of the province’s top-performing feeder schools for higher education, reaffirming its reputation for academic excellence and its success in preparing learners for university.

The recognition was announced during the annual Stakeholders Breakfast hosted by University of KwaZulu-Natal last week, where schools from the university’s key recruitment regions were acknowledged for their role in developing learners who are well-equipped for tertiary study.

As part of the event, UKZN honoured its top feeder schools for the 2025 academic year — institutions that have consistently produced students who demonstrate strong academic ability, independence and readiness for the demands of university life.

Among the schools recognised were Verulam Secondary School alongside several other prominent schools across KwaZulu-Natal including Westville Girls’ High School, Durban Girls’ High, Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High, Sibusisiwe Secondary School, Raisethorpe Secondary, Mconjwana High School, Star College, Menzi High, Ridge Park College, Pinetown Girls’ High School, Queensburgh Girls’ High School, Phambili High School, Carter High School, Bizimali High School, Adams College, Thongwana Junior Secondary School, Mqhawe High School, Kharwastan Secondary School, Luthuli High School, Danville Park Girls' High School and Westville Boys’ High School.

The Principal, Mr S. Govender described this accolade as a proud achievement for the Verulam community.

This recognition reflects the quality of education and support our learners receive at Verulam Secondary. It is rewarding to see our students leave school with the confidence, discipline and academic foundation needed to thrive at university and complete their degrees successfully.

The accolade reinforces Verulam Secondary’s longstanding commitment to nurturing high-achieving learners and creating pathways to higher education success.
