It is late in the day and whilst all around me the worlds is quiet and sleeping, I am fixing a favourite toy.

Like this little special soft toy, being handled and played with and thrown and dropped and hugged and left behind and found, as humans we are often fraught with the same treatment, leaving us with needing to be fixed. The scars remain as a reminder, even though the wound heals.

Tonight, I think back over 16 years of memories, and still working with families where the children are like this little soft toy. They need fixing, because of all the ‘handling’ - sometimes ‘without care’, and other times ‘handled with care’, but just needing some sort of fixing.

To all the fixers, keep on fixing. Even though you might never see the difference you have made, you were there and mended something.

Supervised Contact can be a very positive experience. When it is combined with recreational activities, learning about history becomes fun. We have visited the centuries-old Cape Town Castle of Good Hope. I have been here as a child, and now, after decades (🫣), relive the moments.

Appreciating the little things. As I navigate the complexities of supervising contact sessions, I’m grateful for the serene backdrop of Cape Town and Table Mountain on this beautiful autumn day, which inspires me to remain compassionate, empathetic, and hopeful.

The pleasant weather enhanced the beauty of the city and its surroundings, making it enjoyable to experience nature at one of the top tourist attractions while working.

It was a beautiful afternoon in the outskirts of Paarl. The weather is slowly turning for the better, after a cold and wet winter in Cape Town, South Africa.

A family in supervised contact, decided to make use of the opportunity to bring a little kiddo to the - a wonderful spot to enjoy quality time.
