Fastforward Community Development Centre Unveils Revolutionary LABEC-CBID Model at Chavani Stakeholder Forum

MAKHADO, LIMPOPO — 01 September 2026

The historic Nkhensani Tribal Hall at Chavani recently pulsed with visionary energy as local leaders gathered for a high-impact Development Stakeholder Forum.

Hosted by the WDB Development Trust, the workshop brought together a diverse group of organisations and government departments with a shared mission: to tackle poverty and unemployment head-on.

The standout moment of the day was an engaging, lecture-style presentation delivered by FCDC-SA. They officially introduced the ground-breaking Local Asset-Based Employment Creation and Community-Based Industrial Development (LABEC-CBID) models, sparking a fresh wave of optimism across the room.

What makes LABEC-CBID so refreshing is how it breaks away from conventional development frameworks. FCDC-SA explained that unlike traditional models, LABEC-CBID focuses heavily on unlocking local assets to build sustainable community independence. It isn't just about temporary relief; it is a masterclass in fighting poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment from the ground up, ensuring communities can truly stand on their own two feet.

A major highlight of the session was the introduction of the FCDC-SA Five Steps for Employment Creation. This ambitious strategy aims to turn every single household and ward into a vibrant industrial point, thus fulfilling UN SDGs 1, 4, 8, 11 and 17.

Furthermore, FCDC-SA (also a partner of SAYOUTH, NYDA and Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator) placed strong emphasis on financial resilience, showing local organisations how to utilise the LABEC-CBID model to achieve financial independence so they can continue to thrive and serve their communities even when traditional funding pools dry up.

The event drew an impressive, multi-sectoral turnout, highlighting a unified regional commitment to growth. Among those in attendance were representatives from the Local Tribal Authority Regeneratives, the Department of Employment and Labour, and the University of Venda's Institute of Rural Development and Law Clinic. Also present were delegates from the Department of Social Development and the Department of Health, alongside local Councillors and Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) representatives.

With this landmark presentation, FCDC-SA and the WDB Development Trust have given Ka-Chavani and the wider Makhado Municipality a powerful blueprint for true, community-driven industrialisation.

The (FCDC-SA) Five Steps for Employment Creation

A practical, asset-based model that turns idle local resources into jobs via LABEC-CBIDmodel - without waiting for donors or government.

How it works:

1. Planning - Community orientation and goal setting to define economic objectives.

2. Need and Resource Identification - Find what the community buys from outside, then map local assets: land, produce, skills, empty buildings.

3. Resource Mobilization - Pool what we already have: land from traditional leaders, local tools, small contributions, and agree how to work together.

4. Practical Skills Training - Hands-on, non-formal training in agro-processing, production, and basic business management.

5. Implementation and M and E - Launch micro-factories, sell locally, keep money circulating, track income and growth.

We turn every homestead into a factory and every ward into an industry.

To all NPOs

Adopt LABEC-CBID models.

Adopting the LABEC-CBID model can transform your NPO from a traditional, donor-dependent charity into a self-sustaining driver of local economic growth. It shifts your focus from delivering short-term aid to building long-term community assets.

Benefits for Your NPO

Reduces Donor Dependency: You learn to generate internal revenue through local community-owned enterprises.

Boosts Funding Appeal: International donors highly favor NPOs using structured, measurable sustainability frameworks.

Creates Local Jobs: The model explicitly focuses on immediate, localized employment creation.

Enhases Community Ownership: Locals actively manage the projects, ensuring long-term project survival.

Maximises Local Resources: You will unlock hidden community skills, land, and existing infrastructure.

Scalable Framework: The model provides a repeatable blueprint you can apply to multiple regions
