🌍♻️ As Zero Waste Week comes to an end, we’d like to highlight the pioneering work of Dreamcatcher South Africa, who have for many years been addressing waste challenges in our communities while implementing responsible tourism that helps spread the economic and geographical benefits of tourism

Together with Stilbaai Coastal Cleanup, Henque Waste, Anti MorsJors, and the Goukou Waste Warriors, they’ve been raising awareness and taking action to reduce waste and protect our environment. 💪🌱

But there’s still a lot of work to do – especially when it comes to poorly functioning landfill sites, which continue to threaten both the environment and public health. Just last week, AfriForum released a report showing that only 22% of landfill sites they monitored meet minimum standards.

📑 You can read the full report here:https://www.artikels.afriforum.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/2025-AfriForum-Landfill-site-audit-Low-Res.pdf
👉 See page 46 for data specific to the Western Cape.

Let’s keep working together for cleaner, healthier communities.

Recycling is a simple yet powerful way to make a positive impact on our environment. By recycling used products like paper, plastic, metal, and electronics, we can turn them into new products which are used daily!

The best part? We don't need to be recycling experts to make a difference - you and I are the experts!

And we already have the services of Henque Waste available in our Hessequa towns.
Henque Waste is committed to making recycling easy and accessible for everyone with the clear or blue bags available at no cost to households. With daily collections, you can trust that your recyclables are being handled responsibly.

Did you know electronic waste (e-waste) is the world's fastest growing waste stream? In South Africa over half a million tonnes of electronic waste is generated each year - around 9kg per person. Sadly the majority of this waste ends up in landfill having a negative impact on the environment - and leads to important resources, including precious metals, being wasted.

If you have any electronic waste this can be dropped off at Stilbaai Library tomorrow (18th December) where it will be managed in a responsible and safe way - see full details below.
