As part of our exhibition, Art Jewellery in Conversation with Still Life, there will also be an ONLINE AUCTION featuring selected works by participating artists and alumni.

The exhibition will be on show at the Oude Leeskamer in Stellenbosch from 3–11 October, as part of Woordfees.

The exhibition catalogue will also form part of the online auction, offering an opportunity to explore and collect works from the exhibition.

ART JEWELLERY IN CONVERSATION WITH STILL LIFE

The Creative Jewellery & Metal Design Division is delighted to be collaborating with Strauss & Co on “Art Jewellery in Conversation with Still Life”— an exhibition that we have curated through an Open Call to local contemporary jewellery artists.

The exhibition explores the dialogue between art jewellery and still-life painting. Where still life captures a moment, jewellery brings that moment into motion — introducing gesture, interaction and temporality through wearable forms.

Through this curated collection, we invite audiences to consider jewellery not only as something to wear, but as an artistic medium that can shift between object, image, movement and participation.

The Jewellery Division at the Department of Visual Arts, Stellenbosch University, is excited to showcase a selection of student work as part of this upcoming WaarMakersWeek.

The exhibition offers a glimpse into the creative, conceptual and technical approaches explored by our students throughout their studies, highlighting the diverse possibilities of contemporary jewellery practice.

We invite you to visit the display, which forms a part of the WaarMakersWeek featuring a variety of Art & Culture. Each day holds a number of sensational Workshops, Exhibitions, Music, and Nature walks.
