A R2-billion beach resort promising jobs and tourism growth has triggered a scientific backlash over plans to deploy shark nets that critics say could harm endangered marine life.

There was an unusual spike in negative shark encounters around Sydney this week, most likely due to the heavy rainfall and murky waters.

We truly feel for the people involved in these traumatic incidents.

We also found out now that The Sydney Morning Herald posted our you tube video in their platform and this is much appreciated!

Did you know that South Africa’s shark-populations are under serious strain?

A new investigation reveals how the country’s only permitted demersal shark longline fishery is targeting critically endangered species — with no proper catch-limits, weak enforcement and vessels operating inside marine protected areas.

Our oceans depend on these apex and near-apex predators — but they’re slowly being fished out. Read more about what’s happening and why it matters for marine ecosystems, coastal communities and our planet’s biodiversity.

Know your sharks 🩵🦈

There are about 500 different species of sharks , from the smallest ones to the biggest ones, plancton eaters, pelagic, bethonics, laying eggs and giving birth to live pups.

And even within the same species, each individual shark has its own very unique carachter.

Here some of Cristina Zenato Explorer ‘s caribbean reef sharks real names 🩵🦈

Know your Sharks!
A little humor to start the day.
Often I hear from people how sharks all look the same. They don’t. Each one of them look as different as human individuals, it’s a matter of spending some time with them and having our eyes adjusted to their presence and appearance.

Last night, the Shark Conservation and Research Trust (SCAR) had the privilege of hosting a truly special fundraising evening at the beautiful PANE E VINO FOOD&WINE BAR - STELLENBOSCH. Surrounded by friends, supporters, and passionate ocean advocates, we came together to celebrate our shared commitment to protecting sharks and the ecosystems they support.

The night was filled with energy, connection, and generosity — including an exciting auction of incredible items that helped raise vital funds for shark conservation and research. Among the highlights was the exclusive, limited-edition Spirit of the Ocean grappa, crafted by Dalla Cia Grappa & Wines, where the first bottle was auctioned and sold on the evening. This unique collector’s item is still available for purchase directly from Dalla Cia Grappa & Wines , with proceeds continuing to support our conservation efforts.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated these amazing prizes, and to all who bid with such enthusiasm. Every contribution brings us one step closer to a safer, healthier future for sharks and our oceans.

We are especially grateful to our generous hosts at PANE E VINO FOOD&WINE BAR - STELLENBOSCH for providing the perfect setting, and to every guest who joined us — your presence, support, and belief in our mission means the worlds. 💙
