In this video I go through basic Euclidean Geometry proofs
1. Tangent chord Theorem (proved using angle at centre =2x angle at circumference)

2. Opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral (proved using angle at centre =2x angle at circumference)

3. Proportionality Theorem (basic proof)
https://youtu.be/yvmgnxZSXp0

4. Angle at centre equals twice the angle at the circumference (proved using exterior angle of a triangle equals the sum of interior opposite angles)

5. Similarity Theorem (basic proof)

R100/h Maths lessons for High School

There's a question that intrigues most, why maths is important?
Why we solve for x and is that what you do your entire degree? What are the careers in Maths?

1) One of my lectures did put it well that maths is just a study of truth or is concerned about truth.
But, how? Hold that thought I will come back to it
Now back to maths being the study of truth, in maths, we acknowledge that sometimes our intuition leads us astray, thus we can't claim intuition to be always right.

Although it is very useful since we test it to find the truth. If something seems to make sense it doesn't mean that it is correct or true for that matter. We need to develop ways of testing what is true and that's where Maths comes in.

Of course if you only taken maths in high school this is hardly believable. But what you learn in high school is valuable for abstract concepts you learn in college/university.

How those contents looks like....we prove things. We hardly care about arithmetic(+,-,/,*). In varsity you are not taught how to add big numbers or perform any other type of arithmetic operation.
Instead you are taught how things come about (truth) that is by proving why a certain theorem must work.

That is also helpful in life as we are often driven by intuition since we are humans. But maths demands we question our intuition. And it gives you methods that you can use in order to test that intuition.
Of course that is not the whole truth and estimations in life are rather too complicated but that's the beauty of it.

Have you ever wondered why sqr(2) is irrational and where did they get those numbers in decimal form? Where do they come from? Did they just guessed them or some maths was done to get them? The short answer to the last question is yes, but the important question is how?
This is left as an exercise...although answer MAY be posted later.
