Thembalihle Primary School Thembalihle is a primary school based in Orlando East, Soweto. Grade R to Grade 7. Our colours are red and black. Our motto is:Only the best is good enough

History of the School

The school was originally located in the old church building of Dutch Reformed Church, (which was famously known as Dutchy) now ZCC (Zion Christian Church) however due to the congestion and lack of space and the growing numbers of learners it was therefore decided that the school be moved to
the nearby school, which was then Zifuneleni Ipatleleng Higher Primary School afte

r the school had relocated elsewhere. During that time the school was divided into two entities, with the deputy principal supervising the other school which was known as Khanya Primary School located in the other building. The principal had to move between the two buildings. Thembalihle was then moved to the new building in January 1986, with the late Ms. Sana Dikgale as the principal, at the time our classes began from standard 1 to 4, standard 5 was introduced later in 2000 and declined the following year due to space and challenges thereof. In 2002, the school motto was coined, “only the best is good enough” by the then school principal
