The Honeybush Collective is a small primary school registered with the Western Cape Education Department.

Nestled in a peaceful neighbourhood of Somerset West, South Africa, we offer a unique learning experience for children in Grades 1 to 7.

MILES FOR OUR HIVE 🐝

Three runners. Two races. One purpose.

Carla Annas, c a i t l i n. and Fran Denton are training hard and raising funds for our Beehive Bursary Fund!

Their goal is to raise R25,000 by 31 October 2026 to help children access our nurturing education where they can learn, grow and thrive. 🌿

The Beehive Bursary Fund helps us provide financial support to families who need it, and every single contribution makes a difference.

Happy Heritage Day from Honeybush! 🇿🇦

Today we celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, stories and people that make South Africa so uniquely diverse.

At Honeybush, we’re reminded every day that our children are growing up in a country filled with different histories, backgrounds, languages, traditions and ways of seeing the world - and that these differences are part of what make our community so special.

This absolutely beautiful watercolour painting depicts a little moment of childhood at Honeybush. It was painted by our very own teacher Lindy Laros, an incredibly talented watercolour artist, and so perfectly captures the essence of Honeybush.

Wishing our Honeybush families and the wider South African community a very happy Heritage Day!

🧶 A little bit of weaving at Honeybush!

Under Teacher Lindy’s guidance, the children recently learned to weave - something completely new to all of them.

With just a few simple materials and some help to get them started, they took to it so naturally and had such fun creating their own woven pieces. The younger children had easier designs, and the older ones had slightly more complicated landscapes. Each one can become whatever they like - a little wall hanging, a table mat, a decoration, or simply something they made with their own hands. 🌿

It was a joy to see how much they loved doing it, and how proud they were once they’d finished it.

A very big thank you to Marius Schoeman and SA Rugby Legends Association for their generous donation of books and sporting equipment to Honeybush. 📚🏉

The children had such fun unpacking everything, sorting it all out and finding a place for it in our classroom. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they discovered all the new books and sporting equipment!

We were also delighted to welcome Marius to Honeybush and to have the opportunity to thank him in person.

And if you’re wondering about the onesies…It just happened to be Pajama Day! 😊

We are so grateful for this generous contribution to our school. The books will be enjoyed for years to come, and the children have already had some lively hockey games! 🏒

What a huge success our Spring Market & Open Day was last weekend! And the weather even played along - no rain just for those four hours! 🙌

All our amazing vendors and visitors loved spending the morning with us! Relaxing live music set the scene and added to the festive atmosphere. Achmat Kazie from Bee Inspired did a talk on bees and beekeeping, and Carla Annas from Community in Action launched her latest fundraiser for our school! See link in bio for more info.

The children had a wonderful time with games and activities from acornplace_ and even an interactive story with Katherine | Mindfulness & Yoga and a bee hunt! Some of our very own students had stalls and did so well that they sold out! 🥳

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us, supported our vendors, brought their friends and family, and helped make the day so memorable.

We’re already looking forward to our Christmas Market on Saturday, 28 November! Save the date! 🎄🐝

🌸 Looking for something to do this Saturday?

The Honeybush Collective is opening its doors to the Somerset West community this weekend with a Spring Market and Open Day, giving prospective families a chance to explore the school and learn more about its multigrade approach to primary education.

There will also be handmade and homemade crafts, food and activities to browse.
