On Women’s Day, our principal Fran and her daughter Phoebe, a Grade 3 student at Honeybush, took part in a special women’s 7km run organised by Captain Joelene Brand from Helderberg Harriers running club.

Every woman wore something pink and brought sanitary pads to donate to Khethani Womens Wellness , who support young girls and women with both planned and unplanned pregnancies, and who have also partnered with Sandy Immelman.

Along the route, we had an “Empowerment Passport” stamped at each water point, where there were sweets and snacks to keep us going!

It was Phoebe’s longest run yet, and the exciting atmosphere and support from everyone made it such a wonderful morning. When the route took us past Honeybush, we couldn’t resist stopping for a photo!

Today we celebrate the women who nurture, inspire, teach, encourage and make a difference every day.

We’re especially grateful for the remarkable women at The Honeybush Collective, and for the strength, kindness and care they bring to our little school. 💛

Here’s to all the women who help shape the next generation. 🌿

Happy Women’s Day!

We had a very special visitor at Honeybush! 🐰

The children are always so excited when “Teacher Lennon” comes to visit! Lennon belongs to Teacher Caitlin and is always a very welcome (and very snuggly!) addition to the school day.

He brings such a calm presence to our classroom. The children naturally slow down around him - they become gentle, quiet and caring, taking turns to sit with him, hold him, stroke him and simply enjoy having him nearby. 💛

Teacher Caitlin runs Hop Haven, an NPO dedicated to rescuing, caring for and rehoming bunnies in need. We love that our children get a glimpse into this kind of work - and, of course, plenty of bunny cuddles along the way!

🌿 During the winter holidays, our huge eucalyptus trees were topped and trimmed by Ockie and his fantastic team at Mossie se Bossie. At the same time, the City of Cape Town | South Africa also pruned the massive trees along our pavement. 🌳

We’re thrilled to know that our space is safe and our trees are cared for. It was fascinating to watch the process, and we’re incredibly grateful to the 2nd Somerset West Scout Troop for making it happen.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping keep our little school safe and beautiful! 💛

To mark Mandela Day, our Honeybush children spent 67 minutes during the holidays collecting preloved items from home to donate to The Rabbit Hole Charity Shop in Croydon, Somerset West.

This week, we delivered a car boot full of generous donations! 💛

A heartfelt thank you to our Honeybush families for embracing the spirit of Mandela Day and contributing so generously. And thank you to the incredible team at The Rabbit Hole for the important work you do in our community - we’re so grateful to support what you do.
