It's happening tonight! 👇🏻

The total lunar eclipse will last 5 hours and 27 minutes, featuring a breathtaking 82 minutes of totality—when the Moon is completely engulfed in Earth’s shadow. During this time, it will glow in rich hues of deep red and copper, creating a stunning Blood Moon.

✨ Where to look?

🟠 Africa & Europe – Full eclipse view as the Moon rises in the evening.
🔵 Asia & Australia – Visible late at night or early morning of Sept 8.
🌍 Pacific Islands – Excellent visibility across most of the region.
⚠️ Americas – Unfortunately, the Moon won’t rise during the eclipse here.

Adding to the wonder, the eclipse happens just 2.6 days before perigee—when the Moon is closest to Earth. That means it will appear slightly larger than usual.

World Turtle Day - part 1 🎬🐢 It’s World Turtle Day, so our turtle team is looking back on 2024’s record-breaking stranding season. 🌊 The season was dubbed “turtle-geddon” by the team – the turtles just kept coming, carried in by the hundred in boxes, crates, and buckets. Today, we learned how scientists use coding to help guide tiny sea turtles safely back to the ocean — and how technology and conservation go hand in hand! We also explored the importance of marine protected areas and how we can all help protect our oceans and the amazing creatures that call them home. 💻🌍💙

Happy World Bee Day 🐝 💛🌻

🌍🐝 It’s World Bee Day! And today, we’re celebrating the unsung heroes of the pollinator world — South Africa’s solitary bees! Learn more about their “super powers” and what sets them apart from the social bees.

🌸 1. The solitary oil-collecting bees have extra-long forelegs that help to collect oils from deep flowers. 💧

🐦 2. The neon cuckoo bee
lays eggs in other bees’ nests, and its larvae thrive on stolen food. 👀

🏜️ 3. The sandy-banded digger bee
digs nests in loose sand without needing special leg adaptations. 🏖️

🪚4. The banded large carpenter bee
has powerful jaws to help it turn dead branches into nurseries. 🌿

🍃 5. The big-toothed dauber bee’s
sharp mandibles cut leaves, creating precise, leaf nest cells. ✂️

Even the smallest superheroes can change the world. 🌍💚🦸

🐝 Bee Day Buzz! 🐝

We had such a sweet time celebrating World Bee Day! The kids had a blast learning all about these amazing pollinators — from how bees make honey to why they’re so important for our environment. The highlight? Tasting real honey — for some of us, it was the very first time! 🍯 The reactions were priceless, and the smiles were as bright as sunshine.

Big thanks to our busy little learners for making it such a fun and memorable day! 🌼💛
