Our winter menu tells a story of many intluences, much like South Africa itself.

A blend of cultures, flavours and traditions that come together in a way that feels both familiar and unexpected.

The lamb arancini, for example, draws its inspiration from lamb biryani - a quiet nod to the Indian cuisine that Mr Mandela enjoyed. It's these small connections that shape each dish, linking past to present in a thoughtful way.

At Insights Restaurant, every plate carries a sense of place, reflecting not only the diversity of our country, but the personal tastes that once filled this home.

Join us this season and experience a menu where heritage and flavour meet.

There's a quiet kind of magic at Kruger Shalati - not only in the call of the bush or the flow of the Sabie River below, but in the first warm welcome on the bridge.

Meet the Kruger Shalati Front of House Team - the taces that greet you, guide you and set the tone for your stay at The Train on the Bridge. Through their smiles, stories and thoughttul gestures, the experience begins long before the first game drive.

Swipe through to meet the team, and let us know in the comments which familiar face welcomed you during your stay.

Saving water is not just about turning off the tap.
It's about understanding how water systems work, especially along our coastline.
Litter left on the beach can wash into the ocean, where it breaks down into microplastics that harm marine life.
Keeping beaches clean protects seabirds, fish, tidal pools, and helps maintain healthy coastal ecosystems.
Protecting water means protecting the shoreline. A clean beach isn't just aesthetic. It's ecological responsibility in action.

WHAT LURKS BENEATH... When seasonal rivers still hold pools of water, and dams and waterholes brim after the rains, crocodiles seize the chance the wilderness offers. These ancient hunters lie in wait, perfectly still, their eyes and nostrils breaking the surface as the land's rhythm plays out around them.

Every movement is measured, every strike precise. Fish, birds, and small mammals navigate the refreshed waters, unaware of the patient predator beneath. In these pockets of life, crocodiles remind us that the bush thrives on timing, patience, and instinct - a quiet, enduring force shaping the pulse of the water and all who depend on it.

A glimpse into Skukuza's past.

SAR Class 24 No. 3638, built in 1949 by North British (works no. 26350), began its Journey on a short stretch of rail in Skukuza. Its final destination? The old train platform, now part of the Kruger Station Precinct (formerly the Selati Train Restaurant).

Accompanied by coaches dating back to 1924, this locomotive is more than steel and wheels - it's a living tribute to the Selati Railway Line. From the 1890s gold rush to railway scandals and the line's role in shaping the region, No. 3638 has witnessed it all.

Step back in time and explore history where heritage meets hospitality. Read more on our blog about the story of our Grand Old Lady.

There's something special about landing inside the wilderness.

We are so proud to celebrate that Skukuza Airport has been named the most beautiful airport in the world by Forbes- and honestly, we couldn't agree more.

Situated within the iconic Kruger National Park, Skukuza Airport is anything but ordinary. With its thatched roof, wooden finishes, life-sized rhino replica and sweeping bushveld views, it feels less like an airport and more like the first chapter of your safari story.

As Forbes beautifully described it, Skukuza "ditches the classic airport look and embraces a luxury spa vibe instead" - warm, inviting, and the perfect send-off (or welcome) after days spent immersed in nature.

And the best part?
Kruger Shalati is just 4.9km away, and we offer complimentary transfers to and from Skukuza Airport - meaning your journey from runway to river views is effortless.
From touchdown to the Sabie River in minutes.

Congratulations on this incredible global recognition - what a beautiful gateway to the wild.
