Today we remember the young people of 1976 who stood up for their right to quality education and a future filled with opportunity.

Their fight was not just about the language used in classrooms. It was about dignity, equality, and the belief that every child deserves access to the best education.

Fifty years later, their struggle still echoes in the challenges many learners face today.

Remembering Youth Day reminds us that education remains one of the most powerful tools for creating change, breaking cycles of poverty, and building a better future together.

May we honour their courage not only with remembrance, but with the choices we make everyday.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your child’s learning journey.
