PRESS STATEMENT BY THE UNISA NATIONAL STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL ON MAY/JUNE EXAMINATION PERIOD.
01 May 2017
The National Student Representative Council of the University of South Africa empathise with the broader student population of Unisa due to the crisis of Study Material. The interventions put in place by the institution seek to address the adverse effects of the crisis which we undoubtedly understand to not be sufficient. We are also aware of the confusion and the various statements which are contradictory circulating in relation with the May/June examinations.
We further note that the chaotic state of affairs within the institution has consequently resulted in serious financial implications for the University and severe impact on students’ academic preparations due to late or no delivery of study material. We are unimpressed by the performance of the entire Executive management and have demanded that they be held responsible.
We have also requested a clear operational strategy to guarantee that this becomes the last time such a challenge occurs. The NSRC still awaits such a plan from the responsible Vice Principal. We also seek to take this opportunity to announce that after rigorous discussions the NSRC resolved that the current leadership of the institution has failed the broader student population and have proceeded to submit a motion against the Vice Chancellor to the Council of the University to be tabled and debated on Friday the 5th of May. We await the outcome of the Council position and will take further action thereafter.
We wish the students good luck with their examinations considering the circumstances.
Please find the current official communique with regards to examination extensions from this link:

Come one!!!!!!!!!!!!Come All
To all Unisa students!
It is imperative to notify all of those who are doing year modules that the payment deadline is on Monday 20th of March so please ensure that you don't miss it
We are aware that your registration may have been finalised after the closing date for semester 1 registrations and that you may, therefore, have missed some assignment submission dates.
To ensure that every Unisa student has the opportunity to submit assignments, the submission cut-off date for all assignments scheduled before 7 April 2017 has been changed to 7 April 2017. Unisa will therefore accept, mark and process your assignments until 7 April 2017 if you are unable to submit them by the published due dates. This extension is applicable to all assignments that contribute to admission to examinations, but excludes blog and discussion forum assignments.
Please note that this extension is only valid for those assignments due during this period. While you won't be penalised for submitting these assignments later than the published due dates, we urge you to submit them as soon as possible, but no later than 7 April 2017.
This extension means that assignment solutions for assignments scheduled before 7 April 2017 will only be available from 10 April 2017.
