Week 2 of our Junior Saints Space Adventure with Dubb Tera Nova!
🧪Chemistry Mission: Materials & Survival Tools
This week learners investigated different materials and their properties. Their challenge was to survive in an icy mountain landscape by designing one survival tool using three different materials.
Each learner then explained how their chosen materials could help them survive. Engineering brains were switched fully ON!
⚡ They also zoomed in on metal and explored why it is strong, bendable, and able to carry electricity. Using playdough, they modelled the tightly packed particles and moving electrons inside metal.
🌍 Geography Mission: Earth in Motion
The Juniors became planets in motion as they acted out the rotation and revolution of Earth.
Rotation = Earth spinning on its axis
Revolution = Earth orbiting the Sun
🕰️ History Mission: The Passage of Time
Before clocks ticked on walls, people used the Sun! Learners explored how day and night happen and how ancient people measured time.
They then made their own sun dials to discover how shadows once helped people tell the time. Ancient science brought back to life!
📚 English Mission: Verbs in Action
Grammar got sporty this week! Learners tackled an obstacle course while shouting out action words as they moved.
Because sometimes the best way to learn a verb… is to become one.
🚀 Our 9-week journey continues, and the adventure is only getting bigger. Stay with us as we keep exploring space, science, history, geography, and imagination with Dubb Tera Nova!

The countdown has started… and our Junior Saints have officially launched into their 9-week space adventure with Dubb Tera Nova!
This week, our young scientists zoomed in on the Sun — not just as a glowing ball in the sky, but as a powerful energy factory!
▪They discovered that the Sun shines because of nuclear fusion, where tiny hydrogen particles are pushed together under extreme pressure to form helium… releasing enormous energy.
▪To bring this big idea down to earth, learners used playdough to physically fuse particles together — squish, press, and BOOM… energy in action!
But that’s not all…
▪They also uncovered that the Sun is not solid and definitely not “on fire” like we might think. Instead, it’s made of hot, swirling gases.
▪Using shaving cream and paint, they created their own “moving suns,” filled with spirals and motion — like mini solar storms in a cup!
This is just the beginning…
Over the next 9 weeks, our explorers will:
â–ŞTravel across the solar system
â–ŞBuild their own 3D space models
â–ŞDiscover the mysteries beyond our planet
Come along for the journey and watch learning come alive, one mission at a time.

The Junior Saints recently took part in a fun, hands-on investigation using the scientific method to explore how different amounts of baking powder affect cupcakes. After arranging the steps of the scientific method in the correct order and carefully reading the instructions, learners observed three example cupcakes made with different amounts of baking powder. They recorded their observations, scientific questions, and hypotheses before beginning their own investigation.
Working in groups of three, the learners collaborated to prepare cupcake batter and test three different amounts of baking powder. They recorded their results in a table and presented their findings using graphs to help analyse the outcome of their experiment.
The activity was a big hit, and the learners loved making their own cupcakes while connecting the experience to previous lessons — discovering that cooking really is a lot like chemistry.
