Have you noticed that we’ve introduced something brand new to our Funda programme this year ?👀

Practice Integration Sessions: a dedicated space to move beyond theory and truly embed learning into practice.

We do ALOT of training at Funda, but learning means little if we don’t create space to apply, reflect, and grow. 💭

These sessions bring together social workers across all levels of experience, creating a shared platform for connection, case discussion, and real-world application.

This initiative also forms part of our Bridging Programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers, supporting professionals as they develop confidence, competence, and clarity in their practice. 🎓

✅ CPD accredited
✅ All sessions included in our 149pm training subscription

No one tells you just how much is expected of you at the start of your social work career. 💬

You are stepping into complex systems, high caseloads, emotionally demanding work, and ethical decision-making — often all at once. And yet, newly qualified social workers are expected to adapt quickly and perform effectively in these environments.

But this is only one side of the story…

Social work is also one of the most meaningful, impactful, and deeply human professions you can choose. It is work that changes lives, restores dignity, protects the vulnerable, and creates real, lasting change in communities. With the right support, guidance, and development, it can also be a sustainable, fulfilling, and empowering career. 🧡

At Funda, we believe that newly qualified social workers deserve more than just expectations — they deserve support.

That is why we are launching our brand new Funda Foundations Bridging Programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers: to walk alongside you as you grow into a confident, ethical, and resilient practitioner. ✨

Registration for this programme opens 1 April 🗓️ more info available on our previous post.👉🏼

Why do some behaviours feel so resistant to change—no matter what interventions we try? 💭

Often, what we’re seeing is not just behaviour… it’s internalisations.

These are the deeply held core beliefs that clients develop through early experiences, attachment relationships, and trauma. Beliefs like “I am not safe,” “I am not good enough,” or “People will always leave” quietly shape how individuals think, feel, relate, and respond to the world around them. 🧠

As social workers and social auxiliary workers, if we only respond to behaviour, we risk missing the very thing driving it.

In our next Self-Paced CPD session we will be breaking down the concept of internalisations and equipping you with the tools needed to effectively work with internalisations in practice 🔨

📅 Opens 1 April - complete at anytime.

Today we celebrate World Social Work Day — a day that recognises the dedication, courage, and compassion of social workers across the world. 🌍

At Funda, we believe that supporting social workers must go beyond appreciation — it requires meaningful investment in their development, wellbeing, and long-term sustainability in the profession.

The reality is that many newly qualified social workers enter practice feeling overwhelmed by the complexity and emotional demands of the work. High caseloads, exposure to trauma, legal responsibilities, and ethical decision-making can quickly lead to burnout if practitioners are not adequately supported during the early years of their careers.

That is why we are very excited to announce the launch of the Funda Foundations Bridging Programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers. 🎓

This programme was created to strengthen professional identity, build practical skills, deepen ethical practice, and equip early-career social workers with the emotional regulation, resilience, and reflective capacity needed to sustain their work. Because supporting social workers at the start of their journey is one of the most powerful ways we can contribute to retention, confidence, and long-term impact in the profession. 🧡

✨ Step into practice with confidence. Stay in the profession with resilience.

🗓️ Registration opens 1 April.

Social work asks us to hold complex stories, intense emotions, and high-stakes decisions every day. It’s work that requires not only skill — but reflection. 💭

Reflective practice helps social workers pause, think critically about their responses, and remain grounded in ethical, thoughtful decision-making. It protects against reactive practice, reduces the risk of bias, and supports long-term wellbeing in a demanding profession. 🧡

In these slides, we share three simple reflective practices that can be used in everyday social work. Reflection doesn’t need to take hours. Sometimes 30–60 seconds of intentional pause and questioning can shift how we think, feel, and respond. 🌱

💬 Which reflective practice helps you most in your work?

As a social worker, reflection is one of the most important tools that you have. 💭 In our last Funda session, we discussed what Reflective Practice means, why it matters, and how we can incorporate it into our day-to-day work. 💡

If you missed this session, here’s a recap of what we discussed. 👇🏼

In our next post, we’ll be sharing 3 practical tools you can use to incorporate reflection into your daily work routine. 🔨
