In the mids of all the prize giving evenings at schools, I have something on my heart. I'm so proud of all the learners who achieved well deserved certificates and trophies. My blessings go with them. I know and trust they will make it in life. But I can't help to think about those learners who worked so diligently and have put in all they could but for who it was not good enough to win a prize. Don't you ever give up. Because your best IS good enough. You showed dedication and that's what will make you successful in life. Always remember, in order to succeed you must first believe you can. I believe in ALL my learners and I am so proud of you. I'll always love you.

Responsibility is something all children need to learn. By helping your child develop responsibility, you are helping her reach her full potential. Responsibility involves making decisions, being trusted, and learning to take credit for one's actions—whether good or bad.

We are running towards the end of the year. We are exhausted and emotionally drained.
We can hardly deal with everything going on in our lives now...so do our children.

Things they need to deal with might seem petty to us, but in their world with their emotional maturity it's huge.

The end of the year puts a lot of strain on our children. We hear about su***de this time of the year very often. Childhood depression is a reality.

What is childhood depression?
Childhood depression is different from the normal "blues" and everyday emotions that children go through. If the sadness however becomes persistent or interferes with normal social activities, interests, schoolwork or family life, it may mean they have depression.

Most common symptoms to look out for:
• Crankiness or anger
• Continuous feelings of sadness and hopelessness
• Social withdrawal
• Over sensitivity
• Changes in appetite
• Changes in sleeping pattern
• Vocal outbursts or crying
• Trouble concentrating
• Physical complaints such a headache or stomach pains

What can you do:
• Spend quality time with your child
• Encourage open and honest conversations
• Listen to what your child say
• Acknowledge their inner struggles
• Never judge them
• Never make it off as something not important

● SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP
