Did you know?
You are reviewing a set of emails in a fraud case. The key email that appears to authorise a large payment was sent from a legitimate company address, but the header analysis shows the message originated from a different IP range and the “Reply-To” field was altered. The employee who supposedly sent it was on leave that day.
What is the strongest inference?
A) The email is authentic and the employee logged in remotely
B) This is likely a spoofed or compromised email used to facilitate fraud
C) The IT system simply delayed delivery
