🚩 FRAUD RED FLAG OF THE WEEK
An employee who never takes leave may not be as “dedicated” as it would seem…
What is hiding behind their reluctance to enjoy some vacation time?
Many internal fraud schemes are uncovered only when the perpetrator is away and someone else takes over their duties.

As we move further into the new year, I would like to take a moment to share a belated New Year message and express my sincere gratitude to the many professionals who have been part of my journey.
At the Risk and Investigation Training Academy (RITA), our mission has always been to strengthen ethical leadership, professional integrity, and investigative excellence. Through our specialised training in forensic investigation, fraud risk management, corporate governance, and ethics, we strive to equip professionals with the practical skills required to detect fraud, manage risk, and protect organisational integrity.
I am Ansie de Jager, founder of RITA, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and a legal professional who previously practised as an advocate of the High Court and later as an attorney in my own law firm. Over the years, it has been my privilege to work with professionals across industries who are committed to upholding accountability and ethical conduct.
I am deeply honoured to have been recognised twice as the Africa Educator of the Year, and to serve as an authorised trainer for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) South Africa and International Chapter.
As we begin this year, I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the delegates who have passed through my training programmes and who committed themselves to becoming Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs). Your dedication, discipline, and pursuit of professional excellence inspire me continuously. Seeing so many professionals grow into skilled investigators and ethical leaders remains one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
Thank you for your trust, your commitment to learning, and for contributing to stronger governance and integrity within your organisations and communities.
I wish you all a prosperous, successful, and ethical year ahead.
