Today and almost exactly four years ago! What a joy to be back at the Verdi Hall at Tshwane University of Technology and hear their students. Tomorrow we are off to Durban for the first time! Excited to visit University of KwaZulu Natal and Empangeni High School

Said goodbye to our friends at NWU School of Music today after a wonderful couple of days getting to know new voices and reconnecting with those we know. Excited to visit TUT tomorrow. First time since 2022! Reminder to fill in the Stellenbosch application form if we cannot make it to your school or town in person. Link in bio. We are taking a small break after almost three weeks in Tuscany working with 20 amazing singers and pianists from around the world. We are gearing up for some serious drops in temperature! We are excited to spend the next two weeks meeting the next generation of opera stars in South Africa as we prepare for our January 2027 residency in Stellenbosch South Africa! BCBC will offer full scholarships to deserving singers to join us between January 3 and 13 at the University of Stellenbosch. Singers from around South Africa and the world welcome. First barre class for singers started with listing the bel canto skills. ’s comment begged that we create the moment for you! 🤣 We truly are NOT a cult! Onset, legato, registration, dynamics, agility, and trill are the corner stones of building your voice. We are looking forward to three weeks of voice building at here in beautiful Tuscany!

Vocal Vocabulary is a groundbreaking collaboration between Bel Canto Boot Camp and NWU School of Music & Conservatory (North-West University) in South Africa, exploring how translanguaging can transform the way we teach, learn, and understand the art of singing. We are sharing this sneak peek with Instagram, celebrating our presentation at NATS South Africa today!
Our goal has been simple but ambitious: to make vocal technique more accessible by allowing singers to explore complex concepts in their own languages, while preserving and sharing the centuries-old tradition of the unamplified voice through resources freely available to all.
Beginning with 7 of South Africa’s official languages represented at NWU—Setswana, Sesotho, Afrikaans, English, isiZulu, isiXhosa, and Sepedi—students and professors are building a multilingual vocabulary for singing through conversation, experimentation, group work, and video resources.
