# BB Bread Brings a “Packet of Goodness” to Sethembinkosi Primary School

Sethembinkosi Primary School was filled with excitement and smiles when BB Bread visited the school as part of its “Packet of Goodness” programme.

The initiative aims to make a positive difference in communities while encouraging learners to play an active role in environmental sustainability.

During the visit, BB Bread encouraged the school to participate in its recycling programme by collecting empty bread packets. Sethembinkosi Primary will join other participating schools in the initiative, with schools and grades standing a chance to win prizes for collecting the highest number of empty bread packets.

The recycling drive is designed to promote environmental awareness among learners while demonstrating how everyday actions can contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Adding to the excitement, BB Bread also donated loaves of bread to all learners at the school, ensuring that every child received something to take home.

The learners welcomed the initiative with great enthusiasm, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the visit. Their excitement highlighted the positive impact that initiatives combining community support, environmental responsibility and education can have on young people.

Through the “Packet of Goodness” programme, BB Bread continues to encourage schools and learners to work together to make a meaningful difference — one bread packet and one act of kindness at a time.

The involvement and visit of Ugu Disaster Management and Fire and Rescue Services during the Mother’s Day celebration at Sethembinkosi Primary School was highly valuable and educational for learners. Inviting such departments to schools helps create awareness about safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster prevention from an early age.

Through demonstrations and educational talks, learners gained important knowledge about how to respond during emergencies such as fires, floods, accidents, and other disasters.

This practical learning helps learners develop confidence, responsibility, and awareness of how to protect themselves and others in dangerous situations.

The visit also exposed learners to different career opportunities within disaster management and rescue services, inspiring them to consider future professions that serve and protect communities. By interacting directly with trained professionals, learners were encouraged to ask questions and learn through real-life experiences.

Furthermore, involving community departments strengthens the partnership between schools and public services. It shows learners the importance of teamwork, community support, and the role that emergency services play in saving lives and promoting public safety. Such educational visits make learning more engaging, meaningful, and beneficial to the overall development of learners.

Sethembinkosi Primary School’s celebration of Mother’s Day during the school assembly.

It was an important occasion that promoted love, respect, and appreciation for mothers and caregivers. Recognising this special day at school helps learners understand the valuable role that mothers play in nurturing, guiding, and supporting their children both at home and in society.

Such celebrations also strengthen the relationship between the school, learners, and families. By honouring mothers, the school encourages learners to express gratitude and kindness, while teaching important values such as respect, compassion, and responsibility. Mother’s Day activities create joyful memories and remind learners that every parent or caregiver deserves recognition for their sacrifices and dedication.

Furthermore, celebrating Mother’s Day at school promotes unity and cultural appreciation within the school community. It gives learners an opportunity to reflect on the importance of family and to celebrate the people who contribute positively to their lives. Events like these help build confident, caring, and respectful young citizens.
