The SAVC is the statutory body responsible for regulating veterinary and para-veterinary professions in South Africa.

Our role is to help protect animals and the public by:
• Registering veterinary and para-veterinary professionals
• Accrediting qualifications to ensure professionals meet the required standards
• Registering facilities that offer animal health services
• Promoting professional and ethical practice
• Investigating complaints relating to the professional conduct of registered professionals

Pet owners, please take this seriously. Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be life-threatening, especially in young, unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated puppies.

⚠️ Watch out for:
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy and weakness
• Vomiting
• Severe, sometimes bloody diarrhoea
