At the Learning Acadmy, we incorporate workbooks and written activities alongside the online content that Think Digital Academy provides. It is important that learners provide written evidence to show that they have grasped and consolidated the concepts.

Note-taking and making summaries are vital skills, that often do not get taught at traditional schools. At we encourage our learners to create mind-maps, checklists, diagrams and those are used as study notes when tests and exams are written.

On Fridays, we enjoy arts and crafts workshops with Mrs. Barclay, where we get to use our hands and our creative minds.

These workshops are important for learners to spend time together, once the work for the week is done. Its incredible to see what children are capable of when they have the opportunity to be creative.

During our breaks, we can go outside into the garden and kick a ball around, or chat to our friends at the picnic benches, but we can also get cozy on the couch and read a book.

Its about having the freedom to choose what we like and to be comfortable, even when class starts up again. Learners cannot learn if they don't feel comfortable.

We'd like to introduce the people who are looking after our students and assisting them with their schoolwork.

Mrs. Jill Barclay is the “mom" who looks after all the administrative tasks, onboarding a new student, managing the relationship between the content provider, Think Digital Academy and our centre, and making sure our learners are comfortable. She also loves bringing in arts and crafts and provides the practical workshops that the students enjoy on a Friday.

Mr. David Maxwell is her right-hand man and assists with the technology required with online learning, the academics and provides the additional activities to supplement and consolidate the work that the students are doing. His areas of specialisation are English, CAT, Social Sciences and chess when the learners have finished their tasks and need some recreation time. You will often find him sitting with students and chatting about their hobbies, the games they love to play and what they enjoy doing at home during their breaks.

Our students have the best of both worlds - the routine and structure of school with flexibility and personalized attention of a "homeschooling" environment, facilitated by caring and qualified adults.

Parents can relax and know that their children are getting the academics done without the pressure of school.

What do you need to help with concentration and focus when working? Some people need absolute quiet, some need white noise and some need classical music.

At The Learning Academy, you get what you need? If you need absolute quiet, we have quiet spaces to work, if you need white noise or classical music, we will find it for you.

Let's talk about "belonging". Have you ever been somewhere and felt out of place? Awkward? Unseen? Or even unsafe? How do we expect our children to learn and make progress in a place where they feel out of place, unseen or unsafe?

That doesn't happen at The Learning Academy. Here we accept you as you are. We become family and we have each other's backs. We are all different. We have different abilities, strengths and weaknesses and that's ok. This is the place where we can come every day to see our friends and get our work done, without any heavy school bags, without uncomfortable blazers and ties, without rules about hair length, and having to stay at school until the bell rings. Here we have schedules that suit us and adults who make time to mentor, teach and nurture. We call this "home away from home".
