St George's Preparatory School At St George’s in Gqeberha, learners from 3 years to Grade 10 receive an exceptional education. We are proudly a Curro Select school.

St George’s Preparatory School was founded on a commitment to academic excellence and moral integrity. Our pupils seek to sustain that tradition today, whilst enjoying the School’s full programme of sporting, cultural and community involvement activities. Founded in 1936 by Raymond Hutchinson, the first enrolment numbered about 50 boys. Our school became co-educational in 1987 and now, along with the Pre-Primary, has a total of 410 boys and girls. St George’s Prep is a non-denominational school rooted in Christian ethics and values. We aim to take the lead not only in our standards of academic, sporting and cultural achievement but also in the promotion and development of a holistic education which is grounded in moral, social and spiritual values. Here lively minds find stimulus through interaction with each other and through the teaching and guidance provided by a talented, dedicated and caring staff. Above all, our pupils enjoy their days at school and are encouraged to explore the joys of learning, discovery, challenge and adventure. Ours is a happy school in which our pupils are nurtured to become considerate and responsible members of society. In January 2021, Curro Holdings welcomed St George’s Preparatory School to its stable of Select Schools.

The last day of Term 3 was definitely a highlight! Our Grade 1–3 learners enjoyed a special Open Book Morning, welcoming parents into their classrooms to share and showcase the beautiful work they have been doing throughout the term. 📚✨

The morning also included a few special musical performances, some refreshments and quality time with the JPs, making it a lovely opportunity for our learners and parents to connect and celebrate their achievements together.

We also celebrated Heritage Day in true St George’s style! 🇿🇦 Our learners and staff came dressed in their beautiful heritage outfits, celebrating the different cultures, traditions and stories that make our school community so special.

✅ Development of professional workplace skills

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Daniel Ristow (22), a former St George’s learner, on his selection for the Warriors Cricket squad for the 2026/2027 season!
Daniel’s journey with St George’s began in Grade R in 2010, and he remained part of the George family until completing Grade 7 in 2017. An accomplished learner both academically and on the sports field, Daniel embraced the many opportunities available to him during his years at St George’s.
His sporting journey included representing the Eastern Province U13A Cricket side, which he had the honour of captaining. And a highlight memory includes representing St George’s on hockey tours to the Natal Midlands in 2015 and again in 2017.
Daniel looks back fondly on his time at St George’s and feels incredibly fortunate to have had access to such a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Those opportunities allowed him to explore his interests, develop his talents and build the foundations of the sporting journey that continues today.
And what a journey it has been!

Daniel is currently completing his studies in Theoretical Physics at Stellenbosch University (Maties), which he will finish at the end of 2026. Alongside his academic pursuits, he has continued to grow as a cricketer, culminating in the incredible achievement we are celebrating today.

🏏💙 Daniel has been selected for the Warriors squad for the 2026/2027 season!
This is a remarkable milestone and one that makes the entire St George’s family incredibly proud.

Congratulations to our Grade 6 learner, Alwaba Xego, on her fantastic achievement in being selected for the EP Cricket Girls U13 Green Team! 🌟

Alwaba will travel to Gauteng from 26 November to 1 December, where she will represent EP and compete against some of the province’s top young cricket talent.

Being selected for a provincial team is a wonderful accomplishment, especially as a Grade 6 learner, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication, hard work and passion she has shown on the cricket field. 👏🏏
