Press Release: Permanent Closure of NexusCo
For Immediate Release
It is with profound regret and a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of NexusCo. This difficult decision follows extensive consultations with our stakeholders and was not made lightly. Over the past four years, NexusCo has been more than just a company—it has been a beacon of hope, transforming countless lives through our unwavering commitment to empowering unemployed South African graduates with opportunities abroad.
The closure of NexusCo is effective immediately. However, we remain committed to fulfilling our existing obligations. We will continue to operate until all candidates who have registered with us are successfully placed and their aspirations realized. For those who wish to withdraw their applications and have paid administration fees or submitted documents, we respect your decision and will process refunds accordingly.
We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this announcement may cause. Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the impact this may have on the communities we have served and the dreams we have helped shape. Despite this closure, our commitment to advocacy remains steadfast. We will continue to champion inclusion for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, those holding advanced diplomas, and graduates with letters of completion.
To our clients, partners, and everyone who supported NexusCo's vision—we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for entrusting us with your dreams and allowing us the privilege of serving you. To those we may have disappointed, we offer our sincerest apologies.
As this chapter closes, we hold onto the hope that the spirit of what NexusCo stood for will live on in the lives we have touched.
Thank you.

Media Statement: Addressing Recent Controversies About NexusCo
Over the past few days, NexusCo has been the subject of controversial posts questioning the nature of our services and why we charge fees when some recruiters do not. We want to take this opportunity to clarify who we are, what we do, and why our fees exist. This statement is not intended to address unfounded accusations of being a "scam" but to hold ourselves accountable to our valued clients by providing transparency and clarity about our operations.
Understanding Our Role: Recruitment Agency, Not Recruiters
Firstly, it is important to understand that NexusCo is not a recruiter; we are a recruitment agency. This distinction is significant. Those who have worked under agencies in industries like modeling, performing arts, or other recruitment fields will understand that agencies typically charge fees for their services. In many cases, agencies take a percentage of earnings or charge for the comprehensive support they provide. NexusCo operates on a similar model but focuses on providing a holistic, one-stop service for South Africans seeking ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching opportunities in South Korea.
What NexusCo Offers
NexusCo does not charge clients for employment in South Korea. Instead, we consolidate a wide range of services that are often offered separately by different providers. By bringing these services together, we ensure a seamless immigration and onboarding process for our clients. Here is a breakdown of the services we offer and the associated costs we cover:
Document Preparation and Processing:
- Payment for SAQA certification and expedited police clearances.
- Assistance with visa applications and covering associated fees.
- Transportation for candidates without means to travel from their local town/provinces to DIRCO for document authentication.
Pre-Departure and Relocation Support:
- Financing medical tests in South Africa and South Korea.
- Purchasing flight tickets for candidates.
- Providing a first-month living allowance of up to R5,000,interest-free, to help clients settle before their first payday.
Ongoing Support in South Korea:
- Offering legal assistance and covering lawyer fees for clients facing legal challenges. We had a case of a client that was ill-treated at their school and the director refused to hand them a release letter. We legally intervened.
- Covering medical bills for emergencies not covered by insurance.
Our Commitment to Clients and Their Families
NexusCo goes beyond transactional services. We are accountable not only to our clients but also to their families and society at large. We take pride in offering a service that caters to those who lack the resources or a clear plan for pursuing opportunities abroad. Our goal has always been to make the process as stress-free and accessible as possible.
Examples of Our Impact
1. Fighting for Human Rights: We intervened in a case involving an HIV-positive client who faced unfair treatment from one of the South Korean recruiters and her school, ensuring she was not sent home but instead found a supportive work environment. It is important to note that this candidate was not our client, rather we were requested to assist her with flights coming back to South Africa.
2. Emergency Assistance: When a client was in a car accident in South Korea, we provided immediate support, ensuring they received necessary care without additional costs.
3. Medical Advocacy: The agency had a client with a neurological condition requiring specialist care, we covered all expenses without expecting repayment from the candidate.
These examples showcase the level of care and commitment we provide to our clients, often going beyond what is typical in our industry.
Why We Charge Fees
Our fees reflect the comprehensive nature of our services. Unlike recruiters who may only connect candidates with employers, NexusCo invests in every stage of the process, from document preparation to ongoing support in South Korea. These fees enable us to provide a safety net and ensure that even clients without financial resources can access these opportunities. Without these charges, we would not be able to sustain the level of service and advocacy that distinguishes us from others.
Our Mission
While we acknowledge that no organization is perfect, NexusCo remains committed to empowering South Africans and ensuring their well-being while working abroad. Our mission is to provide a pathway for those with no plan and to support South Africans living in South Korea, offering a service that changes lives.
We thank our clients and supporters for trusting us and encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out directly. We are here to listen, learn, and continue improving the services we offer.

🎉 Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Joy and Gratitude 🌟
If we could summarize the year 2024 in one word, it would be joyous. When we started this year, we never anticipated the privilege of meeting and interacting with so many of you. Like every company, we hoped to serve one or two clients—but what unfolded was far beyond our expectations.
While we were dedicated to offering you our best services, the lasting impact you had on us as your service providers was immeasurable. You inspired us to do more, not just for you but for countless others in the future. Among the many companies and options available to you, you chose us. You chose to walk this journey with us, witnessing lives being changed while patiently waiting for your own moment to shine.
Yes, we made mistakes, and we may have disappointed some along the way. Yet, despite those hurdles, each of you gave us the grace and opportunity to try again. For that, we are deeply thankful.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making 2024 unforgettable. We couldn’t have achieved even half of what we accomplished this year without you. Have a wonderful Christmas, and remember—NexusCo is not just a service provider; we are your family. ❤️🎄
