Two years ago, I did something that felt both incredibly exciting and slightly terrifying… I left my 9–5 and joined BonBons Treats full time. ❤️

And honestly? I don’t think I could have imagined everything these two years would bring.

There have been early mornings, late nights, markets, mountains of dishes 😂, new recipes, happy customers, unexpected challenges, lots of learning… and SO many moments where we’ve been reminded just how blessed we are to have people who choose to support our little business.

BonBons had already been growing since 2020, with Mamma keeping things going while I was still working my 9–5 — taking orders, supplying coffee shops and doing so much to keep our little business moving forward. And two years ago, I finally took the leap and joined her full time. ❤️

This year brought its own challenge when Mamma broke her foot. It meant slowing down, adapting, helping each other a little more, and being patient while she recovered. Thankfully, she's doing so much better now and is back on her feet — quite literally! 😂❤️

Getting to do this alongside Mamma has made these two years even more special.

Two years in, I’m still incredibly grateful that I took that leap.

Thank you to every person who has bought a packet, ordered a platter, stopped at our market table, recommended us to someone, shared a post, sent us a message, or simply cheered us on.

You’ve played a part in this journey. 🥹

Golden around the edges, soft in the middle and loaded with choc chips… just the way a giant cookie should be. 😋

A little BonBons story… 🍫

This memory popped up today, and it made me realise just how far back the BonBons story actually goes.

Back in 2020, my dad and I decided we wanted to take a motorcycle road trip to the Transkei. We had seen photos of the Hole in the Wall, heard stories about how beautiful it was, and thought, “Okay, we need to go see this for ourselves.”

The only problem was… we needed to save up for it. 😂

So we started baking Brownies and Caramel Munchies and selling them to friends, family and anyone else who was willing to buy.

And, as usual, I had the idea… and somehow Mom was the one who helped make it happen. 😂 She worked just as hard alongside me, selling and baking and helping us save up for that trip.

Eventually, we made it to the Transkei and got to see the Hole in the Wall for ourselves. And honestly, it was worth every Brownie and Caramel Munchie.

But somewhere along the way, something else happened.

People kept ordering.

Then they started ordering for birthdays, events and coffee shops… and what was supposed to be a way for us to save up for a road trip just kept growing.

Mom kept it going from there, and before we knew it, our little road-trip baking project had become BonBons Treats.

Looking back now, it's quite funny to think that this view is actually part of the story of how BonBons came to be.

It started with a motorcycle trip, a few Brownies, a LOT of Caramel Munchies… and, as usual, Mom somehow making one of my harebrained ideas happen. ❤️

When the Biscoff fudge doesn't quite behave… you improvise. 😂🤎

What started as a little brownie mishap for yesterday's church coffee station turned into THIS.

Mamma scraped up the crispy Biscoffy bits, rolled them into a brownie swirl and added Biscoff in the middle…

And apparently we accidentally created something people now want to order. 😂

We may have to make this “mistake” again!
