2020 was the year that shut the world down and gave us time to wake up.

Trees start out as seeds, and with the proper nourishment they grow up to play a key role in their ecosystem. They teach us that in order to grow strong we must be interconnected with our environment. Working with nature and incorporating nature-based solutions will create a foundation for a greener, more sustainable future.

We must build back better and greener as it is the only way to avoid further destruction of our planet’s ecosystems while building back our economies. In 2021, let us move forward into a new normal, where we step towards healing the planet.

Between 7 and 20 plastic bottles are used for each piece of furniture.

When I first designed this furniture, I incorporated ecobricks (plastic bottles stuffed with non-recyclable waste). This made the chairs very solid, but shipping waste across the country is not a good way of dealing with it, so I redesigned the chairs using empty 2l bottles.

Ecobricks can be used for many things, ideally in the same community where they are made.
