As the NIHSS enters a new chapter of strategic growth and global engagement, we are pleased to share that Prof Mogamme Masoga, Chairperson of the NIHSS Board, has been appointed by the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, as the new Chairperson of the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT).
This appointment reflects Prof Masoga’s enduring contribution to the advancement of humanities and social sciences, and his commitment to advancing African-centred scholarship within the global knowledge economy.

The Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), with the support of the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT), will host the launch of the special Revista Tempo do Mundo dossier on BRICS.
This launch marks an important moment in strengthening research cooperation and advancing shared perspectives ahead of Brazil’s 2025 BRICS chair-ship. The special issue brings together timely analyses that deepen understanding of global governance, development pathways, and the role of BRICS in shaping a more inclusive international order.
