It has been such a privilege getting to know Kay Jappie.

From our first conversation, there was that rare sense of speaking the same language.

Kay understands twice-exceptionality in the same frame that I do, with the giftedness, neurodivergence, uneven development, intensity, strengths and support needs all held together as part of one child.

This podcast episode is one of what I know will be many conversations between us.

We spoke as professionals, but also as mothers who have lived this, about how easily twice-exceptional children can be misunderstood when their ability hides the areas in which they are genuinely struggling.

Thank you, Kay. I loved this conversation and am already looking forward to the next one.

Do you ever wish you could hand someone everything they need to know about your child, without the twenty-minute explanation every single time?

That's what a child profile is for.

It's one view of who your child is:
⭐ Their learning and thinking differences
⭐ Their accomodations
⭐ The personality traits that make them them
⭐ The things that help to support them
⭐ Their timeline (the history you are asked for time and time again)
And even more.

You build it once. Then everyone who needs it sees the same view of your child.

The teacher checks the accommodations before a tricky lesson. The therapist reads the likes and dislikes to plan a session your child will actually engage with. A new specialist gets the full picture in minutes.

Today, BABS goes live.

It began because we kept returning to the same problem from different directions.

Between us, we were looking at how children think and process information, what sits beneath behaviour and regulation, and why so many bright, neurodivergent and twice-exceptional children are misunderstood even when the adults around them care deeply.

We had all seen the gaps.

The gap between what happens in the classroom and what comes out at home. The gap between what a child can do and what they can manage on a difficult day. The gap between the behaviour adults see and the experience the child cannot yet explain.

We also knew that those gaps could not be addressed by looking at one part of the child in isolation.

That is where BABS began.

The Integrated Brain Classroom™ brings regulation, thinking and teaching into one practical framework, helping adults respond with greater understanding and helping children begin to recognise how their own brains work.

Calm. Think. Learn.

Our website is now live, with dedicated spaces for schools, professionals and families.

Congratulations and Happy Launch Day BABS-Breaking All Barriers

Why helping children understand how they regulate, think and learn changes far more than the next worksheet. I have sat beside many children who knew exactly what they were supposed to do and still could not begin. The book was open. The instruction had been given. The work was often

Some wins don't come with a certificate:
Tried a new food. Asked for help. Made it through the haircut.
To the rest of the world, nothing happened. To you, the earth moved.
You don't need anyone else to clap. But we will.

Something special is coming.

Babs launches on 6 July and we cannot wait to finally share what we have been working on.

For now, save the date. More soon. 👀

Every child at The Bridge School - Morningside has a beautiful brain, with its own way of noticing, understanding, communicating and learning.

Some need more movement, more time, more structure, sensory support or another way into the work. Some read differently. Some communicate differently. Some learn beautifully, but not always in the way a traditional classroom expects.

Neurodiversity Pride Day was a chance to celebrate those differences, and to remind every child that the way their brain works is part of who they are, not something they need to apologise for.

For many children at The Bridge School Morningside, school has not always fitted easily. Some children need more movement. Some need more time. Some need quiet, structure, repetition, visuals, sensory support or another way into the work. Some read differently. Some communicate differently. Some lea...
