Bophelo and Stuff is a Setswana community that exists to strengthen the language’s digital presence while celebrating Setswana heritage and culture on social media. Boikaelelo jwa kgwebo e ke go matlafatsa maitsholô a a kgatlhisang a Setswana ka mo bontlheng jwa bobegadikgang jwa semorafe. Bophelo and Stuff e lemoga boikaelelo jo jaana:
- Ka go gatisa ditshwantsho le modumo go thusa bana le bagol
o ba ithutang Setswana; le,
- Go gatisa mokwalo o botlhokwa mo morafeng wa itekanelo ya tlhaloganyo ka Setswana. Ke fitlhile mo kakanyông e ka go bala mantswe a moeteledipele wa Afrika Borwa wa pele, Nelson Mandela ga a ne a re, ‘Ga o bua le motho ka puo e a e tlhaloganyang, mantswe a tsena mo tlhaloganyong. English translation from Setswana:
'Make Tswana fashionable.' - Jabbaman Senganga aka Jabba aka Hip Hop Pantsula. The foundation and focus of the business is to strengthen Setswana's presence in digital media. The business does this by:
- Publishing Setswana educational content aimed at children and adults that are learning the language; and,
- By filling a critical social gap - writing mental health content in Setswana. I was inspired by the words of South Africa’s former president, Nelson Mandela when he said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart” when I started writing words of encouragement and affirmation in Setswana.
