Throwback Thursday: We going way back. First fashion model - Marie Vernet Worth. While working for Parisian drapers Gagelin and Opigez in the late 1840s, she modeled small items like bonnets and shawls for the shop's wealthier clients. In 1851, she married fellow employee Charles Frederick Worth (future father of haute couture) who was interested in clothing and designed beautiful dresses for his wife with a simplicity that defied the trends of the day. Wealthy female patrons began requesting copies and the rest is fashion history.
