Our Bakerman Programme at Avianto Estate Private School is about so much more than delicious treats.

It allows our young learners to spend special time with their parents at home, baking and preparing something to share with their friends at school.

Along the way, children develop valuable practical life skills – from measuring and following instructions to preparing, organising and proudly presenting what they have made.

We would love our parents and families to be part of it too!

When you visit the school, take a moment to add your own message to our Gratitude Wall. Spare notes and a pen are available, so simply write down what you are grateful for and add your heart to the wall.

Fine Motor Fun at Home!

Fine-motor skills are an important part of preschool development. Strong, well-coordinated little hands help children with everyday tasks such as dressing themselves, using cutlery, drawing, cutting, and, eventually, writing.

You can support these skills at home through simple activities using things you already have around the house!

🧵 Threading beads – builds finger strength and hand-eye coordination
💦 Squeezing a spray bottle – strengthens hands and improves grip control
🥢 Using tweezers or tongs – develops finger precision and control
⚽ Rolling a ball between the hands – strengthens palms and fingers
👕 Pinching clothes pegs – builds the pincer grip needed for writing
🔵 Picking up small objects – develops grip strength and hand-eye coordination

These activities may look like simple play, but they are building the foundations for independence, school readiness, and future writing skills.

Grade 0 is such an exciting year as children embark on their first formal year of schooling. At Avianto, we create a nurturing, hands-on learning environment where children can develop confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.

We incorporate Montessori resources into our programme to support, reinforce and extend our Language and Mathematics curriculum. Bakerman in Preschool!

Our Bakerman activity is about so much more than baking — it’s a wonderful opportunity for our preschoolers to learn through real, hands-on experiences.

Through this practical life activity, children develop independence, fine-motor skills, sequencing, and the confidence to follow instructions. At the same time, we naturally incorporate Numeracy and Literacy by counting and measuring ingredients, recognising numbers, following recipes, and learning new vocabulary.

We believe young children learn best when they can touch, explore, do, and experience.
