Today we remember the June 16 soweto youth uprising and massacre of 1976 where our youth fought very hard to eliminate and change our education system from being apartheid.

We remember the life of one hero Hector Peterson who was brutally murdered by being shot and killed at the age of 12 when the police opened fire on black students protesting the enforcement of teaching in the Afrikaans language which was mostly spoken by the white and colored population of South Africa as the medium of instruction for all school subjects.

The students wanted to learn in their native languages, IsiXhosa and IsiZulu.

Let us celebrate and remember them through empowering ourselves by filling the schools and universities to embrace this opportunity that we have now been afforded🙏🏾
