Give a child something to hold onto.

Weeds & Seeds is collecting pre-loved soft toys and teddies to give them a second life — and a very special purpose.

Some of the teddies we receive will help us raise funds for our outreach projects, while others will be lovingly given to children living in places of safety, refuges and homes caring for children with disabilities.

For a child who may have very little that is truly their own, having a soft toy to hold, cuddle, comfort and call their own can mean more than we realise. ❤️

🌱 Talitha Garden Update 🌱

Today our Permaculture Specialist and Director, Annunzietta Vanzeeberg Nyangala visited the Talitha gardens to assess their progress and provide practical guidance on the next phase of development.

Over the coming weeks, the seedlings will be carefully replanted and respaced to give each plant the room it needs to grow strong and healthy. This simple but important step will help maximise the garden’s productivity and long-term success.

As part of our ongoing commitment to training and sustainability, Nunzie will be presenting a Composting Course in September. This hands-on workshop will teach practical composting methods to help make gardens more sustainable, improve soil health, and reduce costs.

🌿 Everyone is welcome to attend! We’ll share the date, venue, and booking details closer to the time.

There will be no charge for Talitha staff and volunteers. A small course fee will apply to visitors, with light refreshments included. All proceeds from visitor registrations will go towards funding our next community garden outreach project, helping us establish another sustainable food garden where it is needed most.

Together, we’re growing more than food—we’re growing knowledge, skills, and stronger communities. 💚🌱

“We’ve got the garden… now we just need somewhere to answer nature’s call!”

Our dream is slowly becoming a reality. Once we have our sponsored container to serve as our office and training centre, we’ll have a wonderful space to teach, learn and grow.

But… there’s just one tiny problem.

People who spend the day learning, gardening and drinking coffee eventually need… a loo! 😅

So we’re putting out an unusual appeal:

Does anyone have a portable toilet they’d be willing to donate or sponsor?

We promise it will become one of the hardest-working facilities on the property! It may not be glamorous, but it will be appreciated by every volunteer, trainee, visitor and supporter who spends time with us.

If you or your company can help us with a portable toilet, we’d love to hear from you. Every great community project deserves a place to… well… go! 🚽🌿

To continue growing our impact, we need your help.

Our next goal is to raise funds for a shipping container that will serve as both our site office and a training facility. This dedicated space will enable us to support our expanding community outreach and provide practical, hands-on training.

We have committed to establishing a sustainable vegetable garden every quarter at a deserving non-profit organisation, including schools, children’s homes, and old age homes across Midvaal. Each garden will be accompanied by ongoing training in permaculture and organic farming, equipping the caretakers and beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge to grow healthy food for years to come.

If you are able to contribute towards the purchase of a shipping container, or if you can donate building materials to help us construct a temporary wooden structure while we raise the necessary funds, we would be deeply grateful for your support.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to creating lasting food security and sustainable communities.
